My doctor says there's no point in having a blood test to see if my oestrogen levels have dropped, and it's not done on the nhs.

I have a choice.  Take the HRT and see if things improve all round, but never know if I really needed it because of no blood test.....or go privately and get this blood test, but meanwhile delay HRT.

I am being very pedantic today.... :-\   :(

Sparkle...no, actually it made me smile.  I'm feeling emotionally wrecked at the moment with everything that's been going on, and I'm pouring it all out here, and you guys are being brilliant.  I actually felt like crying when I sat down at the computer and you have lightened it up.  I'm being pretty weird and heavy at the moment, lol

Sometimes if I didn't laugh I'd cry!

Exactly!   :)

Your GP is incorrect - blood tests can be ordered for hormone levels on the NHS.  However, they are reliably un-reliable with regards to seeing where a lady is in the meno journey unless they are taken at the 'correct' time as levels go up and down 24/7.  My Gynae won't do bloods, preferring to rely on a diary for 3 months to chart a pattern.

As for peeing in 'all' directions do get treatment 4 vaginal atrophy PRONTO!  If the skin is beginning to cause directional urination then it is probably thinning enough to begin to stick ............

No matter how much you don't want it, this time of life and all it throws at us happens and we have to find ways to live with it.  It takes time to adjust and there is a lot of things that help and the ladies here can point you in the right direction  :).  In the meantime go and get some Tena mini instead of constantly worrying about your pants, then you can relax.

CLKD is correct about VA, I used to pee in all directions too but since I used Vagifem (6 years now) I have not had wet inner thighs once  :)

You can either come to terms with it or go into denial and fight it, but real peace of mind will only come with the former but it does take time and support (which is plentiful on this forum)

and no, we weren't laughing at you but we do laugh through this or we would cry as Sparkle said  :)

I'm getting a lot of crap from the doctor's surgery at the moment, loads of people here are unhappy and I've noticed they've removed the comments/testimonials section from their website.  People were telling it like it is on there.

I'm not peeing in all directions, I think mine's more......omg more tmi....one direction but no force behind it, so it does seem to trickle everywhere.  But that's only been in the last week.....same as with the slight leakage.  I did work out that any woman who doesn't bother to wipe would have far more drips on her knickers than my 1 or 2.....I personally think that's unhygenic but there are people out there that do that without a thought.

I think I might have over reacted to it all and need to give it a few days/week just to see what's really going on.  But of course if it continues I will address it properly.   :)

I agree with the other ladies about topical oestrogen improving the whole uro-genital area & use Vagifem myself.  You might find it helpful to have a look at a website I've found very informative (pelvicphysio.com), but a physiotherapist specially trained in pelvic floor dysfunction can help ensure you do the exercises correctly and get the most out of them.  As Sparkle says, take care not to overdo the exercises - it's important to learn to relax the pelvic floor as well as how to contract effectively.  An overly tight pelvic floor can cause probs with urinary retention which then makes UTIs more likely  ::).  Your GP should be able to refer you if you decide you'd like some help.

Thanks babyjane, I will get them and stop worrying if necessary.  I'll give it a couple more days as very little happened yesterday, to the point of being almost unclear if there was any problem.....so I think I need to give it a bit of time and see the extent of this.  But if it is occurring for sure and not just some odd blip then I will follow your advice.

It's really helpful to hear practical advice and an attitude that says the world isn't going to end.  it's probably because I'm not married or with anyone at the moment and so still think I need to be perfect for anyone to like me.  I'm actually happy living the single life at the moment, I'm not looking for anyone, but the thought of me not being up to scratch should the right person come along is not good   ;D  Probably if I was already loved and appreciated, with any flaws, I wouldn't be worried, because when in a relationship these issues are small compared to the relationship that's already established.

Thanks Wrensong, I will check out that website and ask my doctor if I can at least begin using something like Vagifem...

Just because you might need a bit of help now does not mean you always will, and things evolve.  Since using vaginal oestrogen I no longer 'leak' like I did.  I used to leak walking up hill, now it only happens if I sneeze or cough with a full bladder. I can hold my bladder if our toilet is occupied and do not feel the need to go every half hour or so like I used to.  So, you see, just because you suspect something might be going awry now does not mean it will always be like that especially if you find ways to help so stick around and browse around, especially any threads to do with bladders.   there is also a sister site too called 'Bladder Matters'  :)

http://www.bladdermatters.co.uk/

and to add, the 'right' person will love you for who you are regardless of any imperfections as they themselves will not be perfect - no one is - and might also be worrying what you might think  ;)
