Advice Needed Please
« on: May 22, 2017, 06:28:02 PM »

I started HRT in the beginning of March Estradiol 0.0375 mg patch
Progesterone 200 MG two weeks/100 MG two weeks. Prior to HRT  I was having irregular periods, intense anxiety and PMDD symptoms. At first all symptoms disappeared. The anxiety and PMDD are still gone now but the dry skin, bloating, forgetfulness, blurred vision, stomach acids have come back. I went to the OBGYN and he said to stop the estrogen patch and keep the micronized progesterone since at 42 I'm probably still making enough estrogen on my own. I am afraid of changing anything that might bring back the PMDD symptoms. I think it was caused by a drop in progesterone, but I am a little  worried about discontinuing the estrogen just in case. Any advice on whether to take of the patch or not take off the patch would be appreciated.
My levels were checked in April if that helps.
DHEA  328 ng/dL
FSH  3 IU/L
Luteinizing Hormone 4 IU/L
Estradiol Serum 628 pg/mL

It's such Trial and Error!

Is this the medic that suggested the initial HRT?  It can take up to 3/4 months B4 benefits/not are noted.

As oestrogen levels drop so muscles may become lax = aches and pains, hiatus hernia/reflux as well as the body drying out: that's skin, vagina, nostrils, deep in the ears, eyes .......

Do you chart your symptoms, some ladies find that keeping a mood/symptom/food diary is useful.

Thank you for replying. :)

The doctor I saw today is the head of the clinic.
I keep a log of symptoms since it was fluctuating almost daily. I looked up the adverse effects of Vivelle Dot and they matched every stomach problem I have. My peri menopause symptoms seem to have been due to lack of progesterone {anxiety, dry skin, blurred vision, etc). The doctor wants me to discontinue the estrogen patch and see how I do on progesterone alone. After the worst few months  of my life I'm scared to make changes, but he wants to see how well my ovaries function naturally. I must say the micronized progesterone has been a life saver. It's so relaxing.

It is scary to make changes with medication, I hate it!

Some ladies do well with both, others find progesterone troublesome, occasionally ladies cope without added oestrogen ..........  :bighug:

I am very lucky to tolerate progesterone. It took that horrid anxiety away. That was the worst for me and I know many other women as well.
