Ablation success stories please
« on: May 17, 2017, 01:23:33 PM »

Hi,

I have been offered an ablation by the specialist and have been doing some research on this site and others. The list of reasons not to have it seem endless but in the interests of balance, can any of you recommend the procedure both with HRT and Without?

Hello!  This is my first post but had to respond as my ablation was the best thing I ever did.  Had Novasure with general anaesthetic- day surgery about four years ago...I was 43.  Had heavy almost non-stop bleeding/clots etc.  Went into surgery bleeding...came out with minor watery discharge for about a week and since then ...nothing really a bit of brown/red on loo roll.  I'm nearly 48 now and am on my 4th week of Evorel Sequi patches due to perimeno symptoms (as I still have no periods) but still have a womb.  Early days but happy so far...I have migraine with aura also but not had one headache since starting HRT. X

No I didn't ...although I think heavy irregular periods after years of a normal 28 day cycle are a sign of hormonal imbalance...although all the medical people denied this?!  I've put up with feeling crappy, all the usual...sweats, anxiety, sleeplessness, lack-lustre for a couple of years..after 4 days on the patches I started to feel better almost as if a light switch had been turned back on x. It also took me three attempts (3 diff Drs) to get the HRT I felt I needed...got the usual "do you think you're depressed?" 🙄
I was bleeding so much so often it was a choice between ablation or hysterectomy, I had already had a Mirena which worked well for about 3 years...I then broke out in hives all over (Drs said no connection with coil) had it removed but I had to tell them I wanted another baby for them to remove it!...hives all went!  I thought try the ablation...if it fails or messes me up then I will have the hysterectomy x

I agree Sooby
Third time I went in knowing I had 5mins to get my point across, I had done my homework - thanks entirely to this site...said "I would like to try HRT and I understand as someone who has migraine with aura patches are more suitable "...it worked but she still mentioned ADs just stuck my ground and said "no thank you" (of course they have their place) x

Best thing I ever did. That was 17 years ago.

Hi Sooby

No it didn't trigger peri symptoms, in fact I had it done age 40 and the following nine years were the best for me ;)

I continued to have a slight bleed a couple of days each month. Got heavy again age 49.

My sister had it and also feels great. She actually stopped having Peri symptoms of anxiety, tachycardia and mood issues. Her docs said it wouldn't have helped that side if things but she said there's a lot of cases of women having their hormone fluctuations calm down after an ablation.

She thinks it's because the brain perceives the ablated cervix as not functioning anymore so the signal to try to get the remaining eggs to fertilise stops. Makes sense to me!
