Gut bacteria link to thyroid and estrogen
« on: May 03, 2017, 08:55:25 AM »

Hello girls
My nasty nasty symptoms have taken a back seat over the weekend - thank god! Been catching up this morning on posts since yesterday - so many of us going through hell right now :(

I am posting this very interesting link because it has struck a very emotional chord with me.

Brief background: as a child I experienced trauma and was unwell often with my tummy. Checked medically at 8yrs old for stomach ulcers. In my 30's I struggled with severe nausea and pain triggered by certain foods. After 3 or so years they finally believed me when I tested positive for heliobacter (prob spelt wrong). I then contracted shingles in my 40's which caused all sorts of problems and then a diagnosis of ME. Now things settled until I was 47 - and I remember distinctly that following a nasty food poisoning episode I was unable to breath correctly. In the next 12 months all sorts started appearing overarched by dreadful anxiety etc etc. I was told that vomiting and virus had caused hernia resulting in hoarse voice, lump on vocal chord from GERD and so on. This morning I opened this email and listened to an interview relating a spiral of issues effecting estrogen progesterone and thyroid - often kick started by food poisoning or a course of antibiotics- especially if there was a predisposition of gut issues. I think some of you might be interested in this. I checked the availability of the probiotics and they can only be obtained through a health professional in the UK. Would be interested in having your thoughts on this one. DaisyB  ???

Thinking of you today

It's beautiful weather here in NI and I am still off work because of the severity of my symptoms- I will bake a cake for my granddaughters first birthday and then get my dogs out for a short stroll. They are depressed looking at me lying around I think  :-\  DaisyB

I use maximum strength probiotics from Holland & Barrett - 20 billion active cultures. Didn't watch all of the video, but are they recommending particular ones?

There are lots of schools of thought now that gut bacteria is linked to all sorts of issues and illnesses including autism.

Those who stay naturally slim are thought to have really good gut bacteria, they've done tests on twins where one has been slimmer than the other and found the gut bacterial to be different. There was a good UK programme on it a while ago.

I've found since the clean up of my diet and taking a good probiotic each day it's been a bit easier to keep the weight off and my digestion is very much better. It still messes around when there a change of food, routine etc though!

It's exciting research if it can help some  people get well again!

I make my own kefir, which I drink every day, only been doing so for a couple of months, but it's full of all the prebiotic sand probiotics necessary for gut health.
