Changing back to Femeston 2/10mg from Femeston 1/5 mg
« on: April 27, 2017, 09:13:12 AM »

Hi Girls,

I've posted on here a few weeks ago regarding changing HRT treatment.  I have been on Femeston 2/10 mg for about 7 years and decided to change more because I didn't want any more monthly bleeds.  My doctor prescribed Femeston Conti1/5 mg .... gosh .... I have to change back,  have had terrible dizzy/foggy brain since changing, my body definitely needs the higher dose of Oestrogen/Progeterone, couldn't cope with it as have other family personal matters going on and emotionally I need my head/mind to be in a "well" place.

I've decided it's not the end of the world having monthly bleeds and I can take Norethisterone if I do need to delay bleed for an upcoming family  event if needs be.

Anyone else have similar experiences??

Hi ladyunlaoised (hard to spell that name - had to look a few times!!)

You have changed two things - firstly your oestrogen dose has been halved and also you have changed from cyclical to continuous progestogen. Both of these could be affecting you! Unfortunately femoston conti doesn't come any higher than 1 mg oestrogen dose which is annoying - like the company is saying once you are post-meno you should only be on a low dose of oestrogen. Other brands come as 2 mg - Indivina, Elleste Duet and Kliofem (check the HRT preparations on this website) but with progestogens that are more androgenic and often less well tolerated. As you say the only other alternative is to stay with a cycle. I don't know how old you are but I am almost 64 and have almost always been on a cycle ( albeit a longer one these days) - so still put up with a bleed because I don't want to risk permanent fogginess of continuous progesterone!

If you tolerate norethisterone you might want to try Elleste Duet conti, or Kliofem first - although taking it occasionally is different from taking it all the time!

Hi Hurdity,

Thanks so much for your reply, after reading your response I'm quite happy to stay on cycle, I am 54 years old.   I remember attempting previously a continuous HRT treatment and my brain became "foggy" & it felt like I was far removed from body (if that makes sense) a terrible feeling and when I changed to Femeston Conti all those sensations came back....... so like you I am quite happy putting up with the monthly bleeds if it means having a clear brain.

Thank you again  ;)
