Bruised feeling on skin
« on: April 11, 2017, 08:38:41 AM »

Hi all, does anyone get like a bruised sore feeling in different areas of the skin on body. I feel like I have bruised arms on the outside/back but no bruising there. On the left arm I can feel it without touching it where as the right arm I have to touch it to feel the bruising feeling. Thank you in advance for your responses  :)

Very common meno symptom, a type of peripheral neuropathy.

I think a lot of women don't put two and two together. It is only now that I'm going through it that my sister realises some of things which happened to her were due to the menopause. I met a friend at the weekend who is just starting this journey and was ticking off all the random symptoms she was experiencing.

Whenever I bump myself or the dog treads on me (only a small lap dog) just recently everything hurts more than it used to.  Is that meno ?

Possibly Annie 0710 I get bruised a lot easier now than i did and mainly cos I'm forever bumping into things. I think the skin must become much more delicate i suppose cos it gets thinner as we age 😫. With this thou there is no bruising or redness or anything just soreness and worse wen i touch it just like a bruise. Also my pain threshold has changed I'm like an old lady telling my kids (particularly the teenage ones) to not be so rough with me wen we r horsing around. I hate it being fragile. It's the same with me n hubby wen he wants to play around i can't do it anymore I'm like ooooh ouch!! don't pull there don't grab that ( just wrestling lol!) I feel like my nanna I'm only 48  ;D

Nearly50 yeh I think ur right. I suppose its like trying to remember every detail and feeling wen ur pregnant if it was a long while ago it's hard to remember every little symptom that u had. I'm referring to members of my family who r in their 80s one aunt in particular was looking at me gone out the other day wen I was explaining all my ailments she literally said well I only remember hot flushes made me feel like a weak fraud  :o ;D

Thanks for that Maryjane I feel better knowing its a common symptom  :)

I've told all my younger friends that my job is to tell them 'no, you're not dying' when they panic. Think it has put the fear of god into them about what's coming, but hopefully they'll remember at the time.

Oh I have a victor Meldrew  ;D my daughter is nearly 10 and knows about meno already as we have discussed starting periods etc. I believe in being as open as possible I wud hate her to get the shock I have had with this peri thing. It's a distressing time and if it weren't for this forum I wud feel very alone. Thanks to all you lovely ladies  :thankyou:
