Should I change HRT?
« on: April 04, 2017, 02:50:59 PM »

Hi everyone,

I have been on Femeston 2/10 mg for over 7 years now and I don't feel I am benefitting or this type of HRT is working for me as well as it use to be, my last blood test confirmed my FSH is quite low.
I would appreciate any advice.

Can't help but didn't want to pass on by.

Maybe jot down your current symptoms and decide which you would like to ease first?

Hi, it could be that your own estrogen  levels have dropped and you may need to change to a higher dose, as happened to me. I was eventually, after Dr's experimenting with various hrt types, put back onto Elleste duet 1mg as I had no problems  while on it, but discovered that it no longer worked so I was increased to 2mg. This has taken nearly three months for things to level out to a better stage, although not cleared the anxiety or the disturbed nights completely.  The dr refuses to change anything until the three month stage, as I asked about the patches again. I get a feeling like something is stuck in my throat after taking  my hrt and I also have the shakes in the morning until the  hrt kicks in. Ask your Dr how you can increase your estrogen  as your body has probably dropped it's production.

Hi lady... and welcome to MM
Do tell me us more about yourself - e.g. your age and why you think Femoston isn't working so well now?
It is unrealistic to expect HRT to keep everything ticking over in the same way as we age. Changing HRT or increasing dosage doesn't always work and can sometimes unbalance everything.
Having said this, you could try having a Mirena fitted so you can then use as little or as much oestrogen as you need to control the meno symptoms. Oestrogen can be pills, patch or gel. Oestrogel allows flexibility on dosage.

HI Girls,

I'm 55 years old and as said I've been on Femeston 2/10 over 7 years,  as you know this type of HRT produces a bleed every month, at this stage of my life I would prefer not having bleeds.   I did visit my doctor last week to discuss other types of HRT,  I went equipped with all the information of brands & dosages from this site here.   I even highlighted one or two with the same Estrogen Level as the type I'm currently on.  He didn't listen, in the end he wrote me out a script for Femeston 1/5.

I'm so disappointed ......   I haven't even went to chemist to get it as I know the strength/level  won't be enough for my body.  :'(
Any advice??

No Stella, I'm going to get the script n the chemist this evening.   I just don't want to be back to hot flushes/creeping itchy skin again.... my daughter is getting married in June and I'm apprehensive now  :-\  I know Femeston suits me but I just don't want the monthly bleeds anymore!!

Do you think it's a low dose or is there a higher level than Femeston 1/5??
