HRT needs tweaking after years on it ?
« on: April 08, 2017, 10:45:23 AM »

Hi all

Not sure if my subject line makes sense but basically, I've been on one type of HRT (Femoston Conti 0.5/2.5mg) for a few years now.  Been doing great on it.

Last year or so depression has come back (on and off) and the very occasional morning sweat, and on/off swollen throat symptoms - nothing drastic.

Went to GP who moved me up to Femoston Conti 1/5mg but I started to put on weight and feel too bloated (had this with a few types of HRT I tried before) so now I'm back on 0.5/2.5mg and whilst I am doing OK, it seems some of my symptoms have come back and although not as drastic as prior to HRT, I feel them lingering in the background.

Unsure what to do next really, or do I just muddle along and think well better to be kind of ok then not ok at all!!!!

Also, has anyone noticed that effects of different manufacturers of same HRT can make a difference?  I was on Abbott Laborotories Femoston before and now on Mylan and just wonder if a different manufacturer of the same HRT can make a difference in easing the symptoms?

Have a good weekend all and sorry for waffling on!

I'd have a good look at your lifestyle - see if some tweaks in your diet might help. Do you plenty if brisk walking. Are you low in vitamin d? Vitamin d deficiency leads to low mood, fatigue and lower immunity!!
I wouldn't start changing HRT if the Femoston is generally suiting you. DG x

Yes different Companies can alter the fillers or packaging around the active ingredient.  Might be worth while having a chat with a Pharmacist to see if this is so?  Same as pet food manufacturers would deny that the recipe remained the same but my  :cat48: knew if it wasn't  >:(  ::)

Let us know?!?

Hi

I've had the same thing recently, been doing fine for years and then about 6 months ago started with dreadful night sweats and more flushes during the day. Was getting quite worried as the night sweats were the worst I've ever had! Over the next couple of months they lessened to one hot flush with a bathroom visit during the night. Anyway, I had to see doc for a new prescription and had to change the regime as my patch was no longer available. It's given me the chance to try going up an extra 25 of oestrogen (was on 50). I've done 3 weeks now and no hot flushes at night now. I did have a few days of sore boobs but that seems to have settled now, glad I never went from 50 to a 100 in one hit!

Maybe you've just sunk a bit to a new lower level and need a bit more help? Seems to happen after a few years post as someone else mentioned it a few weeks back. The joys.....
