Who is on continuous or 25 day utrogestan in peri?
« on: February 18, 2017, 09:08:16 AM »

Do some of you who are not yet in menopause, take utrogestan continuously/25 days ? Do you feel any benefit to having the progesterone apart from lining protection?

I am just trying to work out my options before speaking to gp as I'm in a real mess and trying to work out if I could now be reacting badly to unopposed added estrogen or not.  Attempts to reduce dose make me feel even more like I've been hit by a truck. During my 2 months on Zoely (which I had to stop due to neck and head pain) I did notice my muscle pain in legs and hands and energy general wellbeing were possibly a little better. Don't know if it was the progesterone 🤔

Thanks alot

jasper - the 25 day Utro regime is for post meno.  If you use this or any continuous HRT regime in peri meno then you are more likely to get problematic bleeding.
Some feel really good on progesterone - Utrogestan can bring a sedative effect that can either make one feel relaxed and good but can sometimes bring low mood.
Sadly the peri stage of the meno is problematic simply because the hormones tend to fluctuate, so finding a good balance can be difficult.
HRT will help with flushes and night sweats but improving low mood and anxiety is very challenging.  Aches and pains etc will usually improve with gentle, appropriate, exercise.  I assume you have had your Vitamin D levels checked?

There are no easy fixes - it's trial and error.  DG x

Hi Dancinggirl and thanks.  I know that the 25 day utro is for post meno but I was sure I had read on here of a few people taking it daily during peri?

Hi Tinkerbellj :-)
GP has given me prescription for Utrogestan for 100mg days 1-25 so I am at least going to see what it does to me.  Can't get much worse as I've been awful since my day 4 migraine kicked in 2 weeks ago.  Unfortunately my BP is going through the roof since I was on Zoely and has not gone back down since going back on Evorel (it remained ok ish for first 6 months on Evorel, so not sure if it's a coincidence or not). So it may be that I have to come off everything, but going to give it a go. I can't collect it til tomorrow from pharmacy which puts me at day 19 of cycle so I suppose I do day 19-25, stop for 3 days and start again? Except my cycle is 26 so maybe I should stop earlier? :-\

will keep you posted x
