Swollen painful arms and Knees
« on: February 16, 2017, 06:10:06 PM »

Hi all I'm a bit concerned. For a while now I've had swelling around the top of my forearm and just above my left knee that I've just thought was swollen joints. They go up and down intermittently. I recently went for blood tests, wen the nurse came to putting in the needle she commented that my arm was swollen I fully expected mr blood results to show something wrong with my kidneys or watever but the were all clear. They're really throbbing today and I feel dreadful like worse than normal yesterday I felt fine like the swelling was getting better but today it's Back with a vengeance. I'm in Peri as far as I'm aware although blood tests didn't show it but my symptoms r full on and periods all over etc. My joints don't particularly hurt but the swelling is uncomfortable especially as it's like a burning/throbbing. Am I wrong to assume everything is peri even wen blood tests were normal?  :-\

I'd pop to then GP to get this checked - could be all sorts of things so get some peace of mind by seeing the doctor.  DG x

Thanks DG I know I shud. Initially that's why I went to the docs to tell him about that in particular so he sent me for blood tests. Now in the past wen I've had blood tests tke doc has asked for me to see him cos I've had a definciency of some kind but all I got this time was all is normal but if u still have symptoms come back. I'll be honest, I haven't gone back yet cos at my docs its a walk in system that can have u sitting there for 2/3 hours and there r never any appts available in the evening so cos I didn't get called in I thought well it can't be that bad. I know I'm making excuses it took a lot for me to go in the first place so I'm reluctant but ur right so I will 😊X

Your Dr possibly did blood tests to check for Rheumatoid arthritis as that causes swollen joints which are hot to touch but RA is painful and you're saying you're not particularly in pain with yours and if your blood tests were clear, RA will have been ruled out.

It could be bursitis or tendonitis. I had tendonitis in my wrist joint for quite some time. I had an xray which didn't show up anything. It just seemed to go on it's own eventually. If you go back to the Dr, they may possibly send you for an xray.

Thanks megamind I've looked that up and it sounds like bursiltis exactly. It's bone pain/ache that I don't have just pain in the throbbing and burning. Wow I'd never heard of it. Such a wealth of knowledge. Thank you 😃

My father in law had it a while ago. I hope it improves for you soon.
