I have several so here goes all remote and isolated spots as that is what I love-

North Uist Outer Hebrides and South Uist and Barra- in fact most of Scotland- including Isle of Muck. Empty beaches and beautiful carpets of wild flowers in May to August on the Outer Hebrides on fertile land called Machair -hence my log in name!

Maldives - I have been to 6 islands and all are romantic and out of this world.

Greece- remote islands- Astypalea is my favourite.

Big island Hawaii where my son lives- currently only a few miles from where the Kīlauea Volcano is sending lava flowing into the sea at Kamokuna. This is an incredible sight when approached by metal boat which we did in January this year.

Closer to home any canals will do especially with a tea room. I love them!

On my bucket list
Svalbard
Ascension Island
Nova Scotia
Northern Canada
and many more.

Lucky you, Ju Ju! *how are your lungs?*

Much better thanks. Not back to normal. I've restarted singing, but not got enough puff to make reliable sounds, but I feel I have rejoined the human race! Still waiting on results for the blood test for aspergillosis. How are you doing? Sounds like you are having a rough time?

Hi Ju Ju, long time no see.. hope you're feeling 100%!

Do you have your results?

I'm still struggling with the flu... my asthma complicates recovery.

Hi there, Menomale! Yes the asthma does complicate things doesn't it. No I'm not 100%, but much, much better than I was. Lungs still restricted and easily irritated, but more responsive to medication. Still waiting for results. I'm off for a short walk to appreciate where I live now.

Oh that's sounds lovely! Unfortunately or fortunately funds are going towards a trip to the USA to meet our new grandchild! If possible we will join our daughters family on a trip to Sweden. My dad used to say he was going to send me to stay in the mountains of Switzerland when I was little and had severe asthma. It didn't happen, but I did get to go a school cruise.

Just been catching up on Great Canal Journeys. This week was through Caledonian Canal.  Oh I feel so homesick for the highlands. Will have to make do with couple of days in April.

Probably Croatia .... I just loved it.  We stayed at Cavtat and it was stunning.

Has anybody been watching the Jane McDonald Cruising programme?  It's really good and this week she was on a small cruise (about a dozen people) around the Hebrides. It looked lovely and she caught really good weather.

Years ago we camped overlooking Eigg, Muck and Rum and the weather was vile and that was July.

Suzi Q, Venice in the spring is a gem, an absolute delight and my husbands favourite city. I love the free, unexpected classical concerts that pop up in the fabulous churches and museums. We were once locked into a gallery and treated to a heart-lifting Vivaldi concert, couldn't believe our luck!!  :)

cubagirl, are you from the Highlands? I've only ever been as far as Edinburgh and Glasgow and not beyond. I'd really like to explore the North and the islands, but would have to avoid midge season as I'm eaten alive wherever bugs abound!! When should I travel?

Now Elizabethrose -  ;) - Scotland is lovely what ever time of year.  We went to Dornie near Eilen Donan Castle (sp) in August 12 years ago and had no problems with midges as although sunny for a whole week  :o. it was windy.  There was a whirlly thing in the garden, apparently the critters are attracted to human breath.   We stayed in a cottage: "Kilimanjaro" : about 2 miles up a lane up a narrower lane  ;) near Dornie.

The journey beyond Glasgow is FabULus.  I LOVE Plockton, a village which is 'owned' so nothing is altered without permission.  Ullapool, further up, was nice in the 1970s but I haven't been since.  Edinburgh is on our list  ;)

CLKD there are so many lovely Scottish ladies here, I should start a new thread and pick their brains.

I've always hankered for a little Scottish fishing village, love wild weather and wild seas, I'm a winter lover for sure! I think it would really suit me! x

My favourite place used to be the Giant's Chair on the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail until they pulled it down last year  :(  Closely followed by White Horse Hill at Uffington.
