I know it's easy to say but don't panic Jodilou.

Given that they are giving you a GA it will enable them to check everything out more thoroughly. They are probably doing the colposcopy because they want to thoroughly check out your cervix because of the problems you had with the hysterocopy. Incidentally, the consultant who  carried out my aborted hysteroscopy thought the problems had been caused by my c section as she didn't know the history of my first labour. So maybe c sections can also cause cervical damage thus scarring.

When they did my procedure under GA they were forced to fully dilate the cervix because they couldn't get through it and they very thoroughly checked everything out which obviously they can't do without anaesthetic. It's a good opportunity for a full MOT!!

I'm sure all will be fine but if not it's far better to discover things early so you can them sorted. Try not to worry too much.

I send you all good wishes x

Hi JodiLou,

The colposcopy in general is recommended in two situations, as you said when there is a suspicious smear, or when a lesion is observed during routine exams. If you had a failed biopsy attempt, then the colposcopy is just another biopsy attempt to address one the situations above. This is done to access the risk of cancer, but I don't think you should be worried about it because your thin endometrium does not suggest it.

If you are going under GA the colposcopy procedure is the natural course of action because they want to have the all clear while your cervix is open!

Fingers crossed for you!

Thank you both very much for the quick responses. I do tend to panic as soon as I think anything is not straightforward. I will try to stay calm and wait for the results after the GA. I didn't think he had observed anything wrong (lesions etc) with my cervix. He said not to worry, the stenosis was just a sign of "old age" 😢. But then I start to think "was he hiding something.....?". I don't know why I'm such a worrier about health. What will be will be I guess. Thanks again for your reassurance xxx

Just a little update. I saw the specialist again today. He confirmed that there was nothing to worry him on the ultrasound (hurrah!) but said he still wanted to do the womb biopsy under GA to be absolutely certain (boo!). He said the 'colposcopy' simply means that he has to open up my cervix to get thru to the womb. So Monday it is. Trying not to worry in the meantime. I haven't had any more bleeding but I do have backache, frequent need to wee and nausea. Hey ho! The joys of being a woman eh? Out with girlfriends tonight so will have a good time and a good moan! Xxx

I do wish that Consultants would explain more thoroughly, it's probably that whilst he is 'in there' and you are 'under', he can have a good look round!  ....... oh! I see that you have had replies which weren't there when I looked  :-\

So Monday it is!  Starved from mid-night on Sunday then?  Who is driving you there and back?

Good morning  :)

Well I feel better today.  I had the procedures (hysteroscopy, colposcopy and D and C) yesterday.

Although I was a bit groggy when he came to see me, the specialist told me that he hadn't seen anything to worry him, and that he felt that the bleeds had been a "last hurrah" kind of thing.

He's going to see me gain in a fortnight, but basically told me in terms that all was ok.

I'm going to be speaking to him about vaginal HRT pessaries etc and also the fact that I still think my endometriosis adhesions/scars are affecting my bladder (back pain urinary frequency etc); but other than that I feel relieved.

Thank you all very much for helping to talk me thru this I'm very grateful and send you all my best wishes for your own health and happiness xxx

 :) Thank you so much

Yes it felt lovely this morning when I woke up and suddenly thought I didn't have to worry too much anymore.

All that's going to keep me fretting now is the thought of my 16 year old daughter on her college trip in New York.......!!!

Hi Jodilou

Thanks for the update and glad to hear all is well (as we suggested it might be ;) )

Well we wouldn't be normal if we didn't fret over our children - at any age!!! However that is exotic for a college trip at 16! All the way across the pond, Mine never went further than continental Europe when they were at school!

Hi she's back!

Complete with excited tales of the Big Apple (and a big bag of washing!) Great to see her and relieved she is home in one piece!

I'd love to say all is well with me since my fab results too, but............

Altho I stopped bleeding pretty quickly after the procedure (2 days later), I again started to bleed (2 days after that) and again it was after a bowel movement (vaginal bleeding),

Plus I feel really nauseous, crampy, rotten backache, hot flashes, frequent need to wee etc etc.

I've spoken to the specialist about all of this, and he seems non-plussed. Says the bleeding is just after effects of procedure which I can buy; but why am I still feeling so bad?

Now that he has ruled out the 'nasties', he seems less interested in me, which in a way is a big relief I know. But in the meantime I can't understand why I feel so rough and sick?

I feel as if its a bad and nauseous period really, with bladder symptoms thrown in? Low oestrogen, 'last throw' of periods even tho Ive gone a year without? I just don't know what to do or where to turn now.

I will just put up with it if I have to; but should I be going back and asking well.......what??

Anyone experienced anything like this before please folks?

Thanks again (i'm becoming a nuisance I know!!!!)
