Bleeding 😬

Now bleeding after sex - think I should mention it when I see my gp next week as don't see my consultant until April. Wondering if consultant was right to suggest I should have hysterectomy - he said it would be the definitive solution! Really think my body doesn't like me any more. Anyone else had similar?

Hi Bedscabbie - don't know your full story - you may have posted on new members ? You are clearly being seen by a specialist but bleeding after sex isn't good and should be checked out. Do you bleed a lot or are your bleeds generally erratic right now? In the peri stage the womb lining can build up and create erratic bleeding and spotting and sometimes a Mirena can control this. Bleeding after sex can also be to do with atrophy and this can be treated with local oestrogen. A hysterectomy should be the last resort - it's a major operation and can plunge you into post meno sooner than is needed. Do contact this specialist and mention this bleeding as he/she may wish to see you sooner. DG x

I agree - always get bleeding after sex checked out, so yes mention to GP.

I'm 55 & well into menopause (according to blood tests 3-4yrs ago). Been bleeding every 2-3 wks since August. Had ultrasound & hysteroscopy & biopsy - all normal menopause but bleeding continued. Consultant suggested options of 1. Do nothing 2. Hysterectomy 3. Mirena.
Mirena fitted 3 weeks ago & had no bleeding - otherwise the mess caused when they nicked a blood vessel during the procedure (wish I wasn't so polite - should really have freaked out - but diathermy sorted it). Had 2 weeks of intense pelvic pain as if body was expelling it but I upped my regular pain meds (I also have SOD & pancreatitis) & pain mostly under control.
All of this has happened since menopause & I blame the change in hormones - rightly or wrongly!
Seems like my body must really hate me at the moment.

Ahhhhh!!!! So you've had a Mirena fitted - AND the fitting caused some problems. I suspect the bleeding may be to do with this nicked blood vessel !!??? Also some bleeding and spotting in the first few weeks after fitting is quite normal - This slight bleed after sex may be more to do with this settling in time.
You might want to have the Mirena checked though in case it has slipped - can you feel the little strings? DG x

That was my instinct too, just feeling frustrated that my body is not behaving.
