Vaginal scan 7 day utrogestin
« on: January 21, 2017, 06:45:48 PM »

Well I have been on HRT for 14 months , just had a scan this am and all is good exactly the same as just before I started HRT.

I only use 100mg utrogestin x 7'days a month , 12 months of that has been orally the last two months vaginally.

No polyps, cysts, fibroids nil.

Only thing found was I still have follicles in my ovaries very easy to find 😳 I'm 50. Thought I was ovulating last month but thought no can't be. I could see them all there.

Hurdity/ whoever is this ok ? Thank you .

Just shows that we really aren't all text book re HRT / hormones and VA.

My bits had almost shrivelled up , hair falling out , still on 28 day cycle, apparently my cervix looked really healthy also when had smear recently they used to make comments about etroisions ( sp) , clear mammo also , so will see gynae next month as still room for improvement think I need testerone adding , bloods really don't paint the picture.

Hi Maryjane,

It looks pretty good to me. If you're 50 then follicles are still expected to mature now and then and if ovulation does not occur they have the potential to become cysts but I assume that yours showed normal types/amounts. Postmenopause women don't get them at all. It looks like you're still producing your own hormones.

If you have any symptoms (pain, pressure, nausea, fever) then ask for help but that is not likely to be happening from what you say.

I'm glad the 7 utro days is working for you, it might work for me too  ;) how much oesttrogen are you taking?

1mg sandrena - 1.5mg play around a bit , have the ok to do so.

Plus vagifem up to 7 days a week again play around with it , and ovestin 4 Xs a week on the outer bits.

It's flipping mad , no hot sweats prior to this the only reason I'm on HRT is for my vagina/ bladder.

Hi Maryjane

Thanks for the update - all sounds good doesn't it? Do you know whether you are post-menopausal or not? if you have active follicles then maybe not? It is nothing to do with age but stage..... there can be some low level follicular activity for several years post-menopause apparently but it is in the first two years following menopause that the activity pretty much declines rapidly following the last ovulation/natural period. If you felt like you were ovulating then perhaps you were - did you get normal pms before your period? Progesterone levels taken in the mid luteal phase, I think are the only reliable tests for ovulation (although I think seeing ripening follices etc in ovary also?)? I'm not an expert!

Good news that this regime is working for you and your lining is thin - your dose of oestrogen is fairly low so that does help too. Do you think you are partly having your own cycle too ( ie ovulating) and therefore still producing some of your own progesterone?

It is great you are being monitored through a scan and I think we all would like to see all women having tailored doses of progesterone, and checked regularly with scans - so that we don't have to take more of the wretched stuff than we have to!!!

Cervix - they used to be called erosions but now apparently ectropion - I've got one ( had one? - not sure if they ever disappear?).

As long as the HRT regime is keeping your vagina/bladder healthy and symptom free, and not causing you any harm then that's great :)
