Hi karen22,

Oh dear, I'm so sorry you're feeling that low. Don't despair, if you read the threads here on anxiety/moods/depression you will see that this is common ground among almost all peri/menopausal women. There is light ahead, be sure of that!

Maybe you can try a different HRT or increase the estrogel dose or even take anti-depressants if all fails.

Stay here, read the threads and you will feel better, trust me, I've been through it all too.

Sending you many many hugs!

 :welcomemm:

Did you suffer with either symptoms years ago?  Does your HRT regime include Progesterone? because many ladies find this time of the treatment really difficult to deal with.

Thank you so so much for responding I went to see professor Studd after years of pmt even pmdd and now at 46 peri ! all I can say is the first few months of his regime werent great but this last 3 weeks which include my 7 day utrogestan week have brought on the most chronic insomnia and anxiety ive ever suffered ... i cant go out at all a friend called this morning and said im unrecognisable with the exhaustion ..I just wished I knew what to do ...do I carry on could it be estrogen dominance causing it which proffesor studd says there is no such thing as !!! x

At your age your probably require a good HRT Regime to protect heart and bones.  Hopefully someone with more knowledge of Prof Studd's clinics will be along, did you see him recently? Is there any reason not to go for another appt. apart from cost/distance?

Progesterone can be the pits apparently  >:(

Do you keep a mood/food/symptom diary?  If you don't have your womb you won't need progesterone.

Well I only seen him in August and he is far too expensive to see regularily :( its the travelling to london etc !
It does feel all wrong though as Im worse than I was prior to starting hrt ..think you might be right re my tollerance to progesterone ..just wished I hadnt started it ...ive read today that the estrogel use stops you from producing your own estrogen so scared to stop ysing it as well as feel i.ll end up in a psychiatric ward X

Where did you read that little gem ?  ;)

If you do a 'search' here for Member Hurdity or DancingGirl you may find some words of wisdom  ;) - they know much more how HRT works

Also are you eating regularly?  Little and often?

I had just one 17 day round on Utrogestan and I can tell you I was knocked out.

Who prescribed you this HRT regime? Maybe talk to him/her to see if increasing the estrogel dose is ok for you? Lowering the dose would be a problem if you are showing signs of progesterone intolerance. Increasing the oestrogen dose would not be a problem in theory but this depends on each personal medical profile. Talk to your gp, nurse, gynae... is anyone available?

Thank you so much for reading my post and responding it's so kind of you . I've emailed proffessor Studd today so hopefully he might respond in week and I'm seeing a dr at women's hospital in February so praying I get answers ... my fear is I didn't feel much better on just the estrogel days either but maybe 14 weeks isn't long enough to say Feel like I'm totally on my own and no one else is as awful as this !!!

Not on your own now >wave<

You are not a nuisance, this Forum is the place to ask, ask, ask: take on board the experiences offered and take that which is appropriate.

Thankyou so much I meant to say this to you earlier but I'm struggling with finding my way round the site and even just to find a reply button in some cases ... I'm sure I.ll get there !! You mentioned earlier that I could possibly ask another user re my hrt questions could I ask you how I go about finding them ( hope I'm not sounding too stupid !!)

Hi Karen22

Just a thought - I am in the process of changing from Oestrogel to Tibulone as I always felt agitated and wired on the gel I describe myself as one of those battery bunnies.

Me too!!! Warwick and I have compared notes Karen of our experiences on Estrogel (seemingly I had absorption/circulation issues too)  but we both found that we were like the 'energiser bunny' on it, and not in a good way! I can maybe tolerate it for 2 months MAXIMUM, and then I'm absolutely racked with anxiety on it. Not good!!!  :o :o

Nothing is silly, stupid, weird or taboo on here ;-).

HORMONES  >:(  ::)

Some find a bedroom routine useful.  I had insomnia for years as I was in a stressful job, one night I woke yet again and thought 'well not sleeping hasn't killed me yet' and went straight back to sleep!  I also had a pen/paper by the bed to jot down stuff, out of my head and onto paper helped a lot.  Reading.  A radio playing gentle music beside the bed.

Now I have the occasionally night when I feel wound up, usually because a family member/s has upset me. Or I simply don't want to go to sleep  ::).  I also sweat by dropping off on the sofa if necessary .....
