Mirena for peri when you DON'T have heavy bleeds?
« on: January 18, 2017, 02:14:07 PM »

Hi folks, I introduced myself a few days ago, but I'm peri, 53,  currently not happy on Femoston 1/10 (cyclical), looking at non-tablet HRT options. Seeing Doc on Friday. I'm trying to decide between Mirena and Progesterone which I may try vaginally. I don't need contraception as husband had the snip, I don't have heavy bleeds / periods, in fact they are irregular but not bad. But my mood  / mind has been adversely affected by the progestin in the HRT tablets. Has anyone else tried Mirena just for perimenopause who didn't have heavy bleeds as part of their reason? Worried it could cause more problems, but not having to think about progesterone is a big attraction. Big fears are mood depression and getting problems with bleeding which I don't have currently! Any feedback welcome :-http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/Smileys/extended/undecided.gif

I have the Mirena as the progesterone component of my HRT and love it, i was a year post meno so was not bleeding at that point. I had no heavy periods in the peri stage.

Thank you Tinkerbell and walking the dog - always good to hear some positive stories about it, it does have lots of negative ones as well of course....KatyB
