Whats this strange feeling in my head? scared
« on: November 27, 2016, 11:11:42 AM »

Hi Ladies

Im turning to you for some reassurance.

Thought I had experienced all meno symptoms. However I have been experiencing this strange feeling that comes in waves usually when Im sitting. It feels like a brief dizzy spell only lasts a couple of seconds but at the same time I get tingling in my legs..... so weird. I have been using less gel (2 pumps rather than 3) also had a lot of stress/anxiety going on too. October I was feeling better and thought I was getting my life back......then wham >:(

Is it meno or a symptom of anxiety ps have the runs every morning and wake with butterflies in my stomach.

I don't know Warwick honestly

I get loads of weird sensations that I never got pre meno.  I don't know if adrenaline surges are anxiety or not or palpitations etc

The only thing I know is these sudden bursts of adrenaline make me feel horrible and they come out of nowhere so can't believe they're anxiety , I think adrenaline (makes me feel better thinking adrenaline anyway !)

Thanks Annie,

I am trying to be rational and tell my self to accept it is nothing to worry about. Then the other side of me takes over and I imagine me having a seizure or dropping dead with a aneurism. Feeling sad today as in October thought I turned a corner.

I will add the extra pump of gel (back to 3) see if that makes a difference.

Extra oestrogen makes these surges worse for me Warwick, so bear that in mind

Maybe spread your pumps out throughout the day if it's not too inconvenient ?

It's a horrible feeling isn't it. I called an ambulance around this time last year as I though it could be an impending stroke as my thighs, cheeks and eyes were all twitching whilst shivering cold and dizzy and thought better not to risk it as didn't know it was hormonal at the time.

I didn't get taken to hospital as it calmed about 5 mins before they pulled up but, for me, high oestrogen causes neurological flare ups but they're easier to ride out now, as when you don't know what's happening you feel terrified at the same time.

Obviously get yourself checked if you think it's something more though.

Dangermouse/Annie

So glad I asked for some reassurance  ;) it really helps

I haven't been out of the house for 4 days because of this head feeling. I was agrophobic last year due to symptoms. Don't want to go there again >:( but surley at 58 (in January) I should be getting better not experiencing more new symptoms.

Thanks again for your advice Wx

I cannot even remember all the strange feelings I have had over the last two years.   But my 'default' symptom if I have no others [my mind seems to need some 'illness food' to obsess about!] is stroke/heart attack.   My left side goes tingly/slightly numb and my face feels funny.   As I have been having it for two years now, I try to ignore it as it hasn't proved fatal so far.

You have my sympathies, this time of life is awful for some of us.

This excerpt from that 34 Menopause Symptoms website explains a bit more:

"While the reason hormonal fluctuations cause headaches during menopause is still inconclusive, most researchers agree it has to do with the effects that hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone, have on the brain and its blood vessels. Estrogen causes blood vessels to dilate, while progesterone causes them to constrict."

Ive also had a head pressure feeling since last year (never actual headaches) which tightens when I get flare ups which is apparently migraines. So it may also be the dilating and constricting of blood vessels that also causes twitches etc. and the above suggests any volatility with oestrogen or progesterone could cause it.

I've read on here that in post meno some can still feel the oestrogen plummets for some time after but it will calm eventually.

I'm 6 years post meno and still getting new symptoms all the time. I've tried lowering my hrt dosage but when I do everything starts flooding back.... Anxiety, brain fog, gastric issues... On and on. It really is disheartening at times but I keep telling myself it will settle one day.

I've had these symptoms for 5 years and it is always worse during fluctuations.  I try now not to panic and ride it out. Easier said than done also palpitations are worse at tho time. X

Hi, in may this yr i had what i thought was a heart attack?? Apparently my gp said it was an anxiet/ panic attack i have had numb arms and legs on and off since then and been given diazapam for when i feel bad, when I suggested it could be linked to the menopause he said no so i just accepted it, it wasnt until i saw a lady gp who said its sounds definitely like menopause symtons, i started hrt 1mg in march and then in may my heart started to beat randomly and it kept scaring me then out if the blue had the 1st attack, my head feels buzzy and tight my hands feel numb and i just go to the point last week where i have had enough and couldn't cope anymore, i went to see the lady gp and she doubled my hrt and said come back in few day is no better and she gave me citilopram, i can say after day 5 of this drug I actually feel 85% normal for the 1st time since march, i have been suffering in silence as i didnt want to make a fuss, gp said the runs is very common after a panic as its adrenaline, it does seem every time i gonto gp they give m another tablet to combat another problem, i just hope this one works now as i not looking forward to this for years to come. Good luck to all x

Hi there

Sorry you've taken a step backwards but the others are right, all sorts of weird stuff happens.

I'm 5 years (I think!) post and still getting fluctuations. I also think if some major upset happens it messes up what little hormones you have left even on hrt. I had two months of totally weird stuff happening once I had physically recovered from an op.

I've got the night sweats back off and on the last couple of months arghhhhh... don't really want to up the hrt as during the day I'm fine, hate hormones!

Try and look after yourself stress wise as I personally feel it has such an effect on us at this stage. You could try a herbal supplement which has Withania in it, it's an Indian Gingseng and is good for mild anxiety and when you are going through stressy times. They also have magnesium with them, some B vits and one brand has chamomile and the other one has lemon balm. Anyway, I feel it really helped and if I'm a little down and feeling a bit on edge I have some of this stuff and it does seem to help.

Take care :)
