Burning feet- estrogen connection?
« on: November 23, 2016, 06:27:05 PM »

Hi ladies

Long time no post! Not been having good time at all. Aside from fact that I can't seem to get balanced with bio hormones- (still mood swings galore, side effects etc that are totally debilitating- for another thread perhaps), I now have new symptom. Burning hot feet!!!!! It does seem to be the case that they get worse after dose of estrogel. I don't take all in one go either..... so even a small dab seems to bring it on.

Anyone else have this? Any ideas as to why suddenly I seem to have this new symptom? I should add that I have always had sensitive feet.... they ache in just about any shoes - particularly if I'm on them all day. Now I'm finding that I struggle to even wear shoes when the heat/burning sensation kicks in. Have been wrapping ice pack in towel and soothing them that way.... but... well bloomin eck.... makes even walking about hard!

Hi Menomale

Thanks for reply. Well it's reassuring to know that it went away for you.

I just had tests including diabetes and all normal. For me this is one of the most difficult symptoms... bar the mood swings. I get flushes on and off. No idea if in peri still or in full meno. Am 53.  Gonna try getting some nerve pain lotion see if that will help.

For me, this burning feet sensation is about the lack of oestrogen - I only get it when I'm not on HRT, so I think it is part of hot flushes or an adrenaline surge.  It feels like the blood is pushing through the veins in my feet really hard and fast and it can be quite painful - then at other times it feels like the blood simply won't go through my feet and they are quite numb. I had my blood pressure done a couple of days ago and apparently I have the blood pressure of a women half my age!!!! DG x

As HRT can interfere with your thyroid, causing thyroid levels to drop and as burning feet are a major symptom of low thyroid. I would have your thyroid checked.
Interesting that it stops when you stop the HRT. Possibly when the thyroid is unopposed?
