Kathleen, I'm sure your GP being the professional that he is and working under the essence of the Hippocratic oath of 'do no harm' that he has judged it to be fine for you to have Tibolone, or else he wouldn't have put his signature on the prescription. Sending hugs your way. xxxxx

Hello ladies.

Hurdity - Thank you for your concern. Yes, I am now 60 ( where does the time go lol). I have been using Evorel Conti 50 mcg patches for over a  year so not new to HRT however flushes and anxiety were still a problem and the continual Norethisterone was playing on my mind so after discussing all the risks my GP was happy for me to try Tibolone.  I will keep the forum updated.

Tempest - Thank you for your comments. I actually managed to see my own GP who is lovely and very interested in the menopause. I made a mental note to always try to see him in the future even if it means waiting longer for an appointment!

Take care ladies.

Warwick, just another thing that might help dear heart! I've read research (which I'll post) that it is desirable to take thyroid meds and HRT at different times of the day if oral as they can affect the action of each other. I'm wondering if this might be an issue, and also that the flushes might also be somewhat thyroid related? I know you're balanced on your thyroid meds. as you  told me before, so that's good but maybe this could be the missing part of the picture? If so, if you could just get your Tibolone dose to 7pm so that (as the research advised) you are taking the different preparations around 12 hours apart, this might make a big difference!

I'm thinking of changing my time too but want to hold fast just now until I'm completely sure there is no settling of the initial dose uptake. This is the problem for me at the moment (and also possibly you, too - as well as possibly the above).  It might be easier for you too as cortisol levels are lowest in the evening and highest from 6 am to 9 am (this is what contributes to morning anxiety) so your dose will be well in your system by then. It has to be worth a try, right? I know it's going to be tough but if I change I'll just make the leap straight away and then I'm only making one change. It could take a while to settle again, but at least you'll only have to do it once and Annie and Suzanne have the best success taking their doses then.

Don't be put off just yet - we're here for you! xxxxx

I think if you message Sphere27 asking if she'd comment on here and if she's willing to answer questions

She could be our 'special guest speaker' lol x

Thank you, Thank you, all my Tibolone Sisters.

I was very low yesterday. Today is another day and day 1 of 3rd pack. I have promised myself to give it the full 3 months.

Tempest - thank you, as always for taking the time to research my issues. I agree taking it later is better regarding any interaction. I take my thyroid med at 6:00am currently taking Tibolone at 2:00pm (intend to change to 7 from Monday) it has been a rough cople of days since changing from 10:00am - 2:00pm.

Have a good day ladies Wxx

Bless your heart, Warwick! Promise you'll pop in later to let us know how you are? I've noticed that the vertigo thing for me starts about an hour and a half after I take my tablet! >:( It's a nasty side effect - I probably should switch to later soon but I may call my Consultant to check with her as not to happy about this. Also had an eye issue too with partial loss of vision which comes and goes - it might not be the Tibolone though so I'd better get this checked out!

Sending you hugs, as always. And good luck on starting your third pack! xxxxxx

Hi Tempest,

Let me know what the Consultant says. I'm still waiting for Dr Currie to get back to me. For me the dizziness has been horrid.

Strangely, the dizziness hasn't showed up today yet (I might be speaking too soon)! Tell me Warwick - do you get the dizziness every day? I'm wondering if it's off and on and if this is a feature.....😮

Hopefully Dr Currie will pick up your e-mail soon! xxxxx

OK that's great Kathleen :). I would be interested to hear what you decide to do.

Kathleen, I'm sure your GP being the professional that he is and working under the essence of the Hippocratic oath of 'do no harm' that he has judged it to be fine for you to have Tibolone, or else he wouldn't have put his signature on the prescription. Sending hugs your way. xxxxx

Tempest - unfortunately this is not always the case as we have seen many times on here - hence my question to Kathleen! Of course you're right, they do not intend to do harm - but sadly over the years and including recently, due to ignorance, there have been many instances of incorrect prescriptions from GPs - and we have had to send members back to change them!  Examples have been of women given oestrogen only HRT ( for some months!) when they still have a uterus!

That's very worrying, Hurdity!  :(

In Kathleen's case, she seems to have a good GP who is knowledgeable about the menopause who she has seen for some time and and who she trusts, so I was speaking about her situation specifically. My GP regularly monitors ladies over 60 who are still using Tibolone - and my Consultant says it's fine provided the individual's risk factors haven't changed and their symptoms warrant continuing treatment. My Consultant  stands by the guideline of 'the lowest dose for the least amount of time to control symptoms'.  I think this is the whole essence of good HRT prescribing really, isn't it? xxxx

Hi Tempest

Just to answer your question regarding my dizziness ::)

Unfortunately it still comes in waves but not has intense or as frequent as the first few weeks. It seems worse when I lye down, Very unnerving..... I have just taken my tablet at 2:00 - I could feel my face getting flushed together with feeling a bit lightheaded around 1:00pm.
