 I'd like to hear from anyone who has been referred to a kidney specialist just because of blood traces in urine. All my other UTI symptoms from back in September have cleared and haven't returned. My urgent cystoscopy was clear and also my blood tests for kidney infection and scan for kidney stones. I now have no symptoms except for the blood traces which might also have cleared by now.
I have to wait until January for the appointment and don't know what to expect. Am I likely  be told that I have a further long wait for more tests? I want to book a holiday for next year but I am holding back until the appointment because of holiday insurance requirements.

I always have blood traces in my urine - I had the usual tests with urologist and all was clear.  I was simply told to keep using the local oestrogen. It seems crazy to refer you for what is very likely to be urogenital atrophy!!!
I'll be interested to know what this other specialist says about these blood traces.

I would ring the dept and tell them you want to book a holiday and what the procedures and waiting times are likely to be.  Are you able to take a cancellation for the initial appt. if someone fails to show ……….

I have leaky kidneys from birth and always have occult blood in urine on testing. Huge problem with modern dip sticks  
I have had every test known to man for this over past 35 years and absolutely nothing wrong just the filters on my kidneys are big and let stuff through.
I had iv pyelogram (x ray with dye) 30 years ago and endless renal ultrasounds and then a few years ago a cystoscopy which all ruled out any other cause.
Sounds as if you have had most of the routine tests already so as has been said let them know you will be on holiday and they can arrange your appt to miss this.
This is very common symptom and does not necessarily mean anything is wrong.

Yes i have traces of blood in urine and was referred to haematura clinic. Had a look in my bladder, followed by CT scan, and then told it was probably due to atrophy. That was 5 or 6 yrs ago & urine dip stick still shows traces of blood. Its a meno thing

Local oestrogen  wasn't mentioned at all in connection with the blood traces by the urologist  or the GP who is reluctant to prescribe it. She isn't my official GP but I never get to see her.

The problem isn't a date clash. I was just reluctant to book anything and waste money if I got an unwelcome diagnosis and the travel insurer refused to pay out due to pre existing symptoms. Travel insurers are one of my pet hates in life!
