I recently heard about these and wondered if anyone has used/is using one and if they have seen any benefit?

Salt is salt!!! why would anyone import it from the Himalyia  ::).  How does salt in a lamp help anything?  We have salt in Cheshire or marine salt from Anglesey ………..

I have several relaxation therapy tapes but finding time to listen was my problem …… or soothing music, or take a walk or even medication to ease symptoms would be my go-to choice.

But why spend money on 'salt', maybe a lava lamp would be more restful ?

I bought one for my asthma, can't say it's helped BUT I love my lamp ! It's a beautiful night light, not too bright and now I'd never be without it

I read they can be beneficial to anxiety sufferers - desperate times = desperate measures! Was thinking of asking Santa to bring one!

OH doesn't need a lamp in the bedroom so I discarded the 2 bedside lamps and brought in my salt lamp, its a nice little glow for rompy pompy nights too :-)

What in earth will they think of next ffs!!!! What is this about Himalayan salt - it really sounds like an exotic fad to me!!!!!

I had a look at the link and the first thing it says is:
"Science proves salt lamps help people with anxiety. Here's how"

As soon as I see the word "proves" I think ah - we have some trials. No, just some sort of pseudo-scientific explanation ::). For there to be proof there would need to be trials with some people having one of these (admittedly very pretty) lamps with the rock salt, and others having identical looking lamps with some other rock that wasn't pink stuff (ie the placebo) and compare the (self-assessed) anxiety symptoms over a period of time. If this has not been done then it is just a fancy idea. Harmless but just a fancy idea....

However it is very pretty I admit - though I doubt it is anything more :) - but - anxiety is one condition where the placebo effect can be very benefifical so if it's a question of buying one of these or a lifetime of anti-depressants then GO FOR IT ::)

That's true - I wonder what the ecological implications are of this fad? Is it giving people jobs (positive in some ways) or damaging ecosystems (negative)?

Damaging eco-systems: initially giving people jobs but how is the salt extracted?!? Then it is packaged, flown by air around the World ………. I am sure if it had any benefit the people in Cheshire would have cottoned on  ;)
