Elliebean, that's crazy, my levels went sky high on the same amount but so have my oestrogen levels after three months, I seem to absorb more than normal.

Hi Annie0710

I am puzzled as to why you find it difficult to regulate your blob size! Are you using testogel? If so it is very easy. You just tear off the top of the sachet and it only ends up being perforated for half of it (ie only half the width of the top of the sachet is opened - the other half seems to stay closed, so each day you just squeeze out a little bit -  I imagine if you cut the top off it would all come splurging out. I can't say I use exactly the same amount each day - it can't be that precise but more or less a petit pois sized blob.

I know you have read my thread in private lives where I've talked about its effects. As I mentioned - a blanket increase in libido would be an amazing thing but I think a lot has to do with oestrogen levels too. The pre-ovulatory peak (when our libido will be at its highest - it has to be in order for us to want to reproduce!) is characterised by extremely high oestrogen levels - but only for a day or two, but of course we do have some libido at other times. We can't maintain those high oestrogen levels all the time - I think we'd feel odd (I presume?) and also would need lots of progesterone to protect the lining too - so it's a bit of a compromise.

For me - I keep the T as low as I can to avoid androgenic effects (as far as I know) - without having to increase oestrogen levels and add more progesterone - especially at my age.

I have never had T levels tested - the gynae I saw - have already mentioned this - said it was not necessary - although once you're on it I can see that avoiding high levels is quite important! She also said that measuring it was inaccurate because the test is the same as used for men so deals with much larger levels normally - whereas women would need a more sensitive tests for levels at the lower end of the spectrum. As far as I know this hasn't been developed - but I could be wrong there?

As always the application site and the condition/thickness of your skin will presumably have a bearing on how much you absorb.

I'm on Testim gel Hurdity

It comes in a tube so I think hard to portion out the blob each day, I'm obviously being cautious to not over do but need to work out a better way .  When I start tube 3 it may be that I overdo it slightly but otherwise I'll never know how to get it to last 10-14 days

I've googled galore and one helpful blogger said it took her a few months to get the dose right

E levels have always been good because pre 2015 I was on full dose oral oestrogen and now I'm on 75mcg estradot with no progesterone

Charlotte - how lucky you are! There's not a square inch of my body I haven't tried to get better absorption! Think I've found the best areas now. Good luck with high T results.

Day 21.

The flushes, sweats and chills have definitely  gone and my energy levels are still raised.

I can't say I've seen much improvement in my libido but things happen much faster than they did before if you get my drift.

I've noticed that my hair seems thicker and also seems to be growing more quickly. I wear my hair very very short so it's quite noticeable.

Oh and my sense of well-being is off the richter scale,  so that's good.

Hi again Annie0710 - Only just catching up with posts.....!! I don't know what a Testim tube is like - but as I said in my other post Testogel is very easy to adjust the approx blob size as you squeeze it out from this thin flattish sachet which is about 2 cm x 9 cms and when you tear it open the opening is about 1 cm as it only opens half of it!

I don't know how one gauges what is the right dose - in my case I have just stuck to the dose originally prescribed because I am terrified about androgenic effects due to  only being on a medium oestrogen dose! I would be interested now to know what my levels are in view of the fact that I am taking both hormones but I haven't had my HRT reviewed for ages at GP and not since I started the T about 19 months ago!

Blakeygray - pleased to hear things have improved - I would be interested to hear if libido (the desire to have sex) improves for you, as opposed to (or in addition to!) improvement in response. Maybe in Private Lives?  ::)

I actually find testogel more difficult to measure than the tube of Testim as it's in a sachet and oozes more.

My thing is about the pea size and the tube lasting 10 days..... the pea size lasts much more than 10 days.  A blogger  on the net who uses Testim said it took her about 3 months to work out it's a 20p size that equates to one tube/10 days but that size seems quite a lot .  I might go back to pea and stop worrying how long it's taking to use up

I must admit I've never worked out how long mine takes to use up - but I do wonder whether a bit more might help. If I were younger i would increase my oestrogen dose up to the next level ( on the same amount of T) and then review after 3 months - and if necessary also increase T blob size!!! I've never tried testim but happy on Testogel - some have said they don't like the smell of Testim and testogel is odourless and I have sensitive skin too so wouldn't want anything strongly perfumed in case I reacted!!
