What frustrates me is that men have Viagra to 'help them along'  and don't have to fight/argue or go to their gp with NICE guidelines etc to get a prescription.

Whereas the vast majority of women who want T do,  only to still get turned away,  patronised  or told we'll grow beards and giant lady bits.

We produce T naturally so it's not as if we're putting something completely alien into our bodies.

Rant over. Sorry.

Blakeygray - the little blue pills work for women too. Not in exactly the same way but there's defo a degree of randiness achieved. Docs swear blind they don't, but in desperation during the late stages of my marriage I tried some and it defo helped. Gave me dreadful headache though. T is working for me now but I've been using it for a year and the initial effect was WOW but subsided to a normal level. I'd imagine if I increased I'd get the WOW again but I'm happy with this level and don't want to exacerbate androgenise effects. My only side effect has been some hair loss which isn't problematic and hair at top of thighs. I also must stress that getting my E levels up was important too. They need each other. Dxx

Dawncam how long was it before your libido increased ?

In desperation this summer I tried a viagra .   Omg I thought i was dying, heart racing, dizzy, pounding head.  Needless to say I went to bed early but only to sleep and pray the effects were gone by morning

I had panics that I'd end up in A&E and have to admit what I'd tried

Haha Annie- it can make you feel awful but if it doesn't, you can get some desired effects!

It's hard to say with the T as I started a new regime of gel and T at the same time but defo within a month I was randy as a rattle snake. As I said, it subsided to a 'functioning' level and I expect that was because I was stabilised on both hormones and hadn't been previously (my T was barely detectable in bloods). Since then I have periods of feeling horny i.e. Daydreaming about sex and just generally feeling more turned on, similar to when I was ovulating but on a day to day basis I'm just 'normal' and by that I mean I'm interested in sex and am happy to initiate etc but not foaming at the mouth, grabbing the next male passer by. I think we may have to accept that we can't have the foaming at the mouth thing all the time and that the cocktail of hormones we had 5/10 years ago can't be replicated by hrt use. Give it time and the T Will defo work for you. How long have you been using it? Is tibolone not an option for you?

I've been on it since mid oct but have struggled to get the size blob right so one tube lasted a month I think.  Losing track here but I think I'm nearing the end of tube no 2 ( wow that sounds ridiculous now I write it down)

I've definitely increased the size blob now but will monitor it better when I start tube 3 as in logging start/end date

I've changed the app site to ankle as it seems to dry better there and I forget I've put it on whereas lower tummy was a constant reminder

I have to say for the last few years I've been wearing false individual eyelashes as mine had really shortened and gone sparse.  This morning I went to remove them to reapply and noticed my eyelashes have grown longer and more quantity !

Ooh brilliant re. the lashes! Don't know if your gel is the same as mine but I'm on testim and was told by specialist to make 1 tube last a week. I've since changed to making it last 12-14 days to see what happens to hair. So your 1 month regime seems low? What's your brand/strength of T. It may be that you just need a tiny increase to get the results you want? I'm also taking approx 3/4 pumps oestrogel but now using sandrena. My specialist was very adamant that if E increases so should T and likewise on a decrease so the synergy between the 2 is obviously important.

I'm on Testim too and 75mcg estradot patch

Yes I'm consciously increasing the blob but will monitor the length of how long a tube lasts next tube

Trouble is when I went on holiday I took a new tube in case I ran out (quite laughable really for a 7 day holiday ) so lost track of how long each lasted

Takes some getting used to these blob sizes do

Yeah they do Annie but if your tube is the same size as mine then you're defo not using enough if it lasts a month. It seems most women who use this T use a tube between 7 and 14 days. Which is prob nearer the mark for any sort of results and you can reduce if it feels too much. Did your gynae prescribe it over a month?

E levels always good, been high dose since I was 32, now 50

Yes GP fought on my behalf at local NHS gynae dept so all instructions were over the phone to me,

It says this on box
"50mg/5g gel unit dose tube
Apply once daily or pea size amount rubbed on abdomen "

I don't rub I just smear/apply then leave @10 mins before dressing

Yup- same as me but mine lasts 2 weeks and some ladies only one week so I think you have a little wriggle room if you're only using 1 tube a month. Ask around and see what comes up.

Could be your solution us just a tiny bit more daily T but you'd need to keep an eye on the tube usage and monitor what your using vs how long tube lasts so that you know your optimum dose.

Thanks Dawn

I think it's going to take me a few tubes to get the dose right here
