Severe diarrhoea on Sandrena
« on: October 25, 2016, 07:33:23 PM »

I have felt so much better since I started HRT, despite resisting for nearly 4yrs.
I'm taking Sandrena 1mg and haven't sorted out the progesterone yet as I've found it triggers migraine - I intend to try 7 days out of 5 week cycle.
However the last 9 days I have had severe diarrhoea, thought it might settle down, but doesn't seem to be. So the last 2 nights I've tried only 1/2 a sachet of Sandrena in case I can't tolerate it. Today I felt so exhausted I can hardly drag myself around ...
I'd be really interested if any one can advise.
There is no NHS here and no menopause clinics. I can pay to see my GP or pay to see a gynaecologist privately, so no easy way to get advice or monitoring.

AS you are using transdermal oestrogen it is strange that you are getting this diarrhoea!!!  I wonder if it's a virus that has triggered this problem? I wouldn't chop and change the amount of oestrogen you use or you will get fluctuations  and more side effects.  If you have been using the gel for some time without getting diarrhoea then it can't be the oestrogen.  If this doesn't settle then you do need to go to the doctor - sudden onset and continuous diarrhoea needs investigation.  Have you tried over the counter treatments for diarrhoea?  DG x

Oh - I just assumed it was HRT... it says in the leaflet under side affects diarrhoea or constipation.
Thats why I was asking for other peoples experiences. I haven't taken anything apart from charcoal. If it doesn't settle soon I'll go to my GP ...
Thank you
