suffering in silence
« on: October 20, 2016, 07:44:06 PM »

Hello ladies. I am new to this forum and not sure what I am doing.
I am 50 and have had the peri menopause for at least 5 years.
I now suffer from the typical symptoms I.e. constant hot flushes.bad sleep. Chronic anxiety at times.
finding it hard to talk to family . Just want reassurance and advice.  :)

Hi kaz s

You will find lots of reassurance, advice and friendship on here.

I suffered similar symptoms to you in my fifties but did find that the only thing that helped me was HRT. Obviously not everyone wants to, or is able to, go down this route but it was extremely effective - especially alleviating the hot flushes/sweats and improving my sleep. I am 62 now and still benefiting from HRT.

Thank you for the replies.
Bad night last night as only had a few hours sleep due to hot flushes and tossing and turning. Not a good idea but will probably use caffine in abundance today. I am stil having periods although my last one was in August.
Feel excited about reading comments on the forum.
Hope you all have a good day. X

Browse round.  Make Notes.  Prioritise your symptoms and see which you would like sorted first.  Ask away!

Welcome kaz s,

This forum is a bloody god send!  Ask away and vent away too when necessary.  I have found it so comforting to know that what I was experiencing wasn't madness but in fact what many other women were also going through.  Quite honestly, it's been the thing that's got me through some days.

 :)

Thanks for the reply.
I have had a few gaps.over the last year or so. My periods not been regular for a while now. It's so frustrating isn't it. Think my pain is worse than when my periods started.

Hi Kaz s

I can totally relate about the period pain.  I haven't had period pain this bad since I was a teenager! My breasts hurt so much I have to sleep in a sports bra as I can't even turn over without them hurting.
I tried a form of HRT patches which didn't help and am seeing a doc today to try again.  This site has kept me sane for the last week since I had to remove my patches.  Prior to that my mood swings were so bad I thought I was going crazy.
The people on here have been so helpful so please please don't suffer in silence about anything.  I'm very new to this myself and not very wise as to the different treatments available but anytime you need to talk or vent I'll do my best to help.

Hi ladies.
I have been to see the nurse practitioner this week about my bloating and pain. She was really understanding but really didn't have any answers.
I have been drinking ginger tea having peppermint oil supplements been swimming and trying to avoid all bloating foods. Still feel so bloated and breasts so tender a week later. Any more recomendations. ? Hate feeling so bloated all the time xxx
