« on: September 23, 2016, 07:58:43 AM »

hi,i read posts regular but havnt posted for a while.just after some thoughts on my recent symptoms.im nearly 52 now, still getting periods on and off ,on low dose of beta blocker, which i had started to reduce slowly,as am very sensituve to change, had been on 1 morn and and three quarter of one at night for weeks since starting reduce.put on originally for palpitations and anxiety a year ago.things had been going ok for me,off days, better days ,usual tiredness ect,but lots better than a year ago.anyway few weeks ago dr said reduce anothrr quarter tab, which stupidly i did without alternating days slowly as i did before, then i also had a few days of bad stress and upset, which i thought i coped with well at the time, also i had a period attempting to show its self, whuch it never did properly, just like a end of periid for 5days,no real blood.just over a week ago i started feeling really yuck, extra tired, shaky, nervy, weak legged feelings, like heart was doin flutterings at certain times, headachy, quesy, had to make mysrlf go out and do usual things,im unsure why, could it juzt be a combination of things,or a big hormonal shift or something.its worried me,so ive added back  in the quarter beta blocker i stopped abrubtly, doin more relaxation ect but im still the same.anyone had similar or any advice or insight please.thanks.

Dolly, I would think its all down to the betablockers reduction. I was taken off them earlier in the year after being on them for over 20 years for anxiety and palps. Was told by Dr that as it was such a low dose I could just taper over a week but boy, I was so ill!!! Jelly legs, the shakes, awful anxiety and then a change of ADs which the side affects also were bad and all that led to a breakdown. I'm only just coming back to some sort of 'normal' now. I did go back on the BBs and that sorted the worst out straight away. Why can't you just remain on the dose that suits? Not ideal to be on meds but quality of life is the main consideration. X

Hi Dolly64
So sorry you are having these problems but you are not alone. I have had periods of great anxiety related to hormones I am sure. I am not taking anything as it comes and goes with the cycle or now lack of it. Your attempted period sounds like you are moving through the process and it will get better I am sure. How often are your periods and are they all like the one you mentioned?

justjules i remember reading your posts, yes very similar symptoms.the reason i was attemptung to reduce betablicker is because i have felt so tired since ive been on it,or even more so,and doin just small amounts of exercise,or ridung my bike knackers me,so thought i would reduce and see if that improved,im angry with self that i didnt do slower,as i know it can cause some people trouble,as like yourself, but also perhaps i just still need it.      machair my periods have been all over the place, this last one was after 28 days, the one before was after 10 weeks, befire that i had 2 in a month, luckily they have been relatuvely light.when all my problems started i had just had a awful very heavy period, worst ever, floodung, pains, clots, weak and quesy, then bang, things started.it so depresses me,which i know does not help,so smile on face and i do try stay positive.x

Well Dolly, maybe just go back on full dose and do it VERY gradually and see how you go. I've always felt like that with any exertion and thought it might be the BBs but I need them for a fast heart rate too so I've sort of got used to feeling like that but, yes, it really gets me down when I see what other women manage to do. So frustrating. x
