Faint feelings....
« on: September 22, 2016, 08:04:39 AM »

I've more or less got my anxiety under control again (or think I have!).  The head whooshes have been better lately but I've still got this sort of wave of faintness in the mornings, normally once I get into the office.  I take my time during the small walk from the car park but someone started talking to me as soon as I got in the office and I could feel it coming on.  It's normally followed by a feeling of heat and then I need the loo.  I don't get it every day and it always seems to be in the mornings mainly.

I have a bit of a 'walking' phobia because I'm always scared I have some sort of heart problem so as it's sometimes just after I've walked into the office, I'm worrying that it's connected to that otherwise wondering if it is just an anxiety surge as it happened the other day when I got excited about my son getting engaged this weekend.

Anyone else had this with just anxiety?  I don't want to go to the Drs  :(

I had something like this the other morning when I had cocked up my hrt.  It was like feeling burning hot deep inside, that breathing was not enough and feeling like I was going to faint, but not.

I was assuming it was something like a hot flush (not had these, although I am a veteran of years of night sweats and near drownings  ;) )  It reminded me of my teenage years when I would come downstairs from the unheated house into the heated kitchen, then nearly flake out.  My mum used to sit me on a chair in front of the open door and I would struggle to breathe.

Justjules - you walk gently every day so it is unlikely that you have any problem with your heart  ;).  You would be breathless, gasping, with an ache in your chest/belly region.

Do you have breakfast?  Are you hydrated?  I always feel worse in the mornings, that 'in case I panic' feeling - like first day in School after a break  :'(.   If I haven't been to the loo after breakfast I have the added worry that I might suddenly need to dash …….. which puts me off going anywhere  :-\

Maybe speak to a trainer at your local leisure centre?  Properly qualified they can listen and advise, even suggesting gentle exercises which will increase your over-all stamina.

Dahliagirl, that sounds horrible - I'm not breathless at all.

CKLD, I am drinking plenty of water and yes, always have to have breakfast otherwise I do keel over as my blood sugar is low in a mornings.  I do still have issues in the back of my mind when walking.  It all started when I first got my current job a few years ago and I was very stressed having been made redundant and nervous about a new job, it was the middle of winter and I had chest pains all the time which were checked with just ecgs and all clear but I was convinced I had angina as it was worse in the cold but I was hunched up.  When I had my breakdown and I'm going through a bad time with anxiety, I've no stamina whatsoever so I always put that down to possible 'heart trouble' and exertion is impossible.

Yes, mornings are bad for me still and the 'what ifs' are always there when I get up and then usually by lunch time I feel a different person.  I can make it to the shops in my lunch hour now which I couldn't do a few months ago but I'm still 'aware' I'm out if that makes sense.  The thought of even going near a gym is enough to bring me out in a sweat!!!

Thanks x

So go and ask advice  ;D - what is the worst you could be told?  After this amount of time it is unlikely that your heart will give problems.  I think from what you have told us previously, these symptoms are improving???  Do you have any heart/angina symptoms?

It could be that you set off walking too close to having eaten.  I used to do that, would have a hearty breakfast, set off on my cycle, up hill - we lived in Wales - 10 mins. later Himself would be nudging me saying 'wake up'  ::).  I fainted 3 times B4 we cottoned on.

Dahliagirl, that sounds horrible - I'm not breathless at all  Its hard to describe, but it is like I am trying to deep breathe, to cool my insides and to avoid fainting, but it doesn't quite work.

The feeling was so like when I was in my teens, so it must have been hormonal then.  We used to blame the Aga.  ;D

Also a feeling of dizziness can be caused if a nerve is trapped momentarily in the back of the neck - it happens to me occasionally  ::)

Does it happen any other time of day?

Mainly in the mornings. As for symptoms, just weary and a spaced out feeling when I walk for a while and worse in winter.

Dahliagirl, what do they say your problem is?

Spaced out can be caused by lack of nourishment or medication.  Weary can be due to lack of exercise, anemia, lack of nourishment.

Some days I feel that I can't put one foot in front of the other but by the time I've eaten breakfast and done a few chores or hung out a line of washing, I feel slight improvement.

For the last 2 years I have put my feelings of tight chest and struggling to breathe when exerting myself down to taking beta blockers for HBP and anxiety. Turns out I have COPD!! So best to get checked out ladies if in doubt!

Sorry to hear that Bramble.  My Mum has that and so did my Dad. I had a chest X-ray last year that was all clear.

CKLD, that's me exactly in the morning. Not as bad once I get going but getting going at 6:30 in a morning to be out for work by 8:00am is the problem. I'm okay if I take my time but that hour of the day is not good for me and anything remotely physical is out until at least mid way through the morning.

My hot flushes now make me feel very faint and waffy headed and then the immense heat and then rush to the loo. I can go days in between them but they are not nice.

Low blood pressure can also cause faint and heat, mornings are when this tends to happen. I can't stand up for long for first few hours in the morning becaue of this.

Plus the minute we feel iffy the anxiety hits big time and that just makes all the faint/dizzy/hot feelings 100% worse and for me goes straight to my bowel :o

Justjules, Countrybumpkin  & Dahliagirl, I wonder if what you're both describing is similar to myself at the moment with my weird turns. Though mine just come out of the blue, at no particular time, though never during the night. Don't have to run to loo, but my stomach feels on fire. I don't get breathless, but I make sure I take deep breaths, in through my nose & out through my mouth until the moment passes.

I've started eating little snacks during the day to see if it's caused by low blood sugar. Heck I'll try anything, as these weird turns are very unpleasant.

Hope we all feel better soon. Nobody told us about this stuff!   :-\
