spotting/slight
« on: August 13, 2016, 05:56:49 PM »

hi havent been in here for a while so this may have been answered before
i have gone 84 days with no period(nearly 3 calendar months) but this week i have started getting little tiny spots
of bloodstained liquid on my pad(too nervous to go without one)the pharmacist in town has said keep counting unless it turns into a proper period
has anyone else had this and what do i do? do i need to go to gp? as they are useless

My bleeds came and went - sometimes very light, other times 'normal' for me.  Until they went altogether.

That's how mine went, sometimes proper ones, others scanty. I had a five month gap and then was taken by surprise, had to raid my daughter's drawer :o they were freebies given by school nurse in puberty education classes.

I had gaps too ……….. but even after my last period in 2002, I didn't stop carrying protection for 5 years  :D

Hi elainediva - I answered on your Late Menopause thread - I didn't realise you had posted separately. You don't need to go to the doctor. Only if you continue to have heavy bleeding well into mid/late fifties (when you might need to be checked for fibroids, thickening of womb lining etc), or if you go 12 months without a bleed and then have one suddenly (called post-menopausal bleeding), or other obvious problems like pain etc.

If you need relief from symptoms then you will need to see GP - eg for local oestrogen like Vagifem - for vaginal and bladder problems), or HRT if your flushes and sweats are severe.
