utrogestan - inflamed stomach
« on: August 02, 2016, 10:15:42 AM »

Looking for any advise on progesterone. I was on Femoston 1/10 for 2 years, in that time i noticed i was getting what felt like acid burning sensation in stomach, felt like it was irritating my airways on and off. Anyway after many visits to GP finally got referred to have an endoscopy. Had that 2 weeks ago which showed inflamed stomach and bile still waiting on biopsy results. 3 weeks ago my GP and i decided to switch to oestrogel and utrogestan to avoid oral route (but still have to take utrogestan orally) anyway first 2 weeks on oestrogel doing ok great appetite stomach felt ok, then last week i started utrogestan and after few days stomach feels irritated and swollen again, airways feel pushed against and niggly cough! it seems when i take progesterone this happens or is it just coincidence? Have had chest X ray and ok. Upper abdomen scan ok. Anyone else feel the airway thing or progesterone causing stomach lining to be swollen?

I have ongoing periodlike stomach cramps and backache and wondering whether it is the progesterone or my fibroids causing this. I still do not know...

Have you thought about using the utrogeston vaginally like many on here do? That way it wont go through your stomach so if progesterone is the culprit to the inflammation you should see a big difference  :)

I was going to try that, just a bit daunting thinking about it but only one way to find out!

I had lots of nausea and digestive problems taking Utrogestan orally, however since I have used it vaginally it has gone away. I do still get bouts of IBS each month but I think that is down to anxiety and where I am in my cycle.
