Sports Bra For Sore Boobs
« on: July 14, 2016, 08:01:00 AM »

I have really sore boobs at present I am a 36c and my usual bra isn't offering much support (pardon the pun). Today I have worn my sports bra which is almost tube like and as well as offering better support holds them closer to my chest. It's not the ideal solution but makes walking more comfortable and climbing the office stairs less painful. Only down side is that I had to wear a dark blouse to work as I am self conscious of it being seen under my clothes.

Just a thought. Have you recently had your boobs measured? I used to wear size 36c too and started finding my bras didn't provide the support they used to. I was measured and found my shape had changed and needed size 34E, which provides the support and comfort even when my boobs were sore.

Hi JuJu they seem to fit in the cup ok, just really tender when the get knocked when I go up stairs or getting things in and out of the car. I must get fitted out properly again though although I haven't gained any weight for ages. I really should get the issue resolved properly and get some proper advice as to how to deal with early menopause from the Drs

Hi Jessicaponies - Evening Primrose is supposed to help with breast tenderness I believe. Maybe carry out a search on this site (blue bar top left of the screen) to see what others have said. I did find this which might give you some more advice on various symptoms and hopefully remedies for early menopause although I do think that HRT will help if your doc prescribes it for you. Please note that this is just a list of possible  symptoms! https://www.earlymenopause.com/information/symptoms/

The elastic and lycra in bras is a lot more stretchy than it used to be in the old corsetry days so a lot of people need a smaller band.  I have found that the size that used to fit me becomes too loose, too quickly.

If you go down in band size, you usually need to go up a cup size too.  eg a cup size C in 36 band size is the same as a D in 34 band size.

Of course, all manufactures and shapes differ, so you have to try an awful lot on.  :(

I have found that I need to buy expensive bras. The ones from a certain big high street store are useless for my  :boobs:

Go to a decent bra shop & get measured properly. I was gobsmacked at what I needed a number of years ago.

Starflower capsules which have approx 250ish mg of GLA help sore boobs.

Do sports bras help you 'bounce' less?  I've always been practically non-existent up top until I started peri and now I have what feels like an enormous bust that bounces all over the place when I run...so I'm not running as it's a) uncomfortable and b) makes me feel self-conscious.  Which obviously isn't great for my health (or boob size either!)

I must have downed a ton of evening primrose capsules as I've had a problem with soreness since I was 13 - never did any good for me, but I know other women have found it helpful so might be worth trying.

My sports bra does stop them bouncing, like a tube the not only supports them but holds them firm against my chest.

I can't wear those types of bra following breast surgery.  Anything too tight nips  :o  ::) and I can't lift my arms high enough to pull them on/off.

How about being measured properly, although I went to 2 different shops on the same day a few years back and was told different things  >:(.  I would suggest a front fastening bra too ……….

A couple of my bras are front fastening and they are more comfy to wear. I am off to the drs this afternoon as the flushes and insomnia have got worse so will ask about evening primrose oil too. HRT is out for now as I am on the pill.

Are you taking POP?  I tried this briefly after coming off the combined sort.  It caused huge boob problems  :o

I don't know why as I had taken it without problems in the past.  But then again, I was feeding twins so it was probably inconsequential.  ::)

I tried a front-fastening one a while back but it kept on undoing and I'd have to make a hasty trip to the bathroom to do myself up again  :o

Also, it's quite hard to find front-fastening ones in smaller sizes.  But I'll look at the sports bras & see if that helps.

Hi, I wear a stretchy sleep bra round the clock when I get sore boobs...which is half the cycle sadly! It does really help though, as it's not too tight or restrictive, but just gives gentle support. I have been just toughing it out, but am just starting starflower oil to see if it helps. Putting cool packs on them after work might help too? ❤️

I hadn't tried using cool packs CarolynBurn but will give it a try, although they are less sore since I came off the pill
