So tired all the time.
« on: May 19, 2016, 01:03:43 PM »

Hello everyone.

Currently on Fermestone, have been for about 4 months, everything going great BUT I'm tired all the time, I could seriously just sleep all day if I could I have absolutely no energy.  I'm getting a great sleep most of the time but even when I get a good sleep at night I'm still exhausted during the day.

I'm also cold a lot of the time.

Has anyone else experienced this?  I did tell the doctor when I saw her last month to let her know how I was getting on with the HRT, and she said its a common complaint of women going through the menopause, she said they did check my thyroid when I got my last blood test and everything was fine.

A very tired exhausted Jackie x

AAAhh …….. how were you during your periods?  I remember crashing fatigue about 36 hours B4 a bleed.  Not every month but often enough to remember it!

I'm afraid I cannot remember how I was during my period I haven't had a period for 6 years due to having an edrometrial ablation in 2010.

I've been feeling like this for months through.  When I first started the Femeston I had loads of energy but that only lasted about 2-3 weeks but since then I'm knackered.

Hi Jackie

I know how you feel! I had a 2 month bout of chronic insomnia in February. I have been taking elleste duet for 1.5 months now. It has eased some of the menopausal symptoms - no more hot flushes and the sleep is improved. However, I still feel really tired most days, even if I have a good night. Work is a struggle and I find it hard to think straight.

I have been to see my GP about it today. I am having blood tests next week to see if there is any underlying problem. If not then my GP thinks it is just due to the period of insomnia and should resolve. Fingers crossed!

Jackie_w how is your activity level? Do you exercise? I'm asking because while I'm mentally more alert I'm still physically lacking the energy I once had. I get tired but couldn't nap if my life depended on it. And if I did nap, I would be up all night. I'm thinking this is where exercise comes in. I'm trying to get a good workout daily to see if I can train myself into higher endurance. After a few workouts, I can see for certain I am in very poor shape in comparison to a few years ago.

Jackie_w - which Femoston are you on?  Do you use a conti version or a sequi version? If you are on the conti version then it could be the continuous use of progesterone.  It can also be part of the settling in process when starting any HRT. Progesterone can have a sedative effect which I certainly experience on Utrogestan so I stick to the sequential version to avoid feeling so sleepy.  I have to put up with the withdrawal bleed each month though which is a nuisance.

How old are you Jackie_w and do you know what your thyroid reading was - you can ask the receptionist to tell you? I also get very tired but mainly in the mornings - I find it hard to wake-up. I take testosterone in addition to HRT which apparently is supposed to help - but more with muscle pain and libido.

Ditto re Lizab and exercise!

Hi - I started on femoston conti 1/5 just under a month ago and mood issues have definitely improved but about 10 days ago I was hit by a crashing tiredness - felt premenstrual and tiredness not related to activity. I even found it hard to wake up in the morning - falling back into a heavy sleep. Anyway the worst of the tiredness seems to be lessening last few days and not feeling so wiped out. Side effect of the progestogen? Recent thyroid tests 2.2 so ok I believe. Hope it will settle. Best wishes. D x
