Anemic?
« on: May 19, 2016, 08:20:54 AM »

I wasn't too sure where to post this?
As some of you know I had the Mirena fitted 6 weeks ago and have been bleeding ever since. Prior to this I had been bleeding for 8 weeks due to using estrogel with no progesterone, so in total that's 14 weeks continuous bleeding!
I'm wondering if all the symptoms I'm having now could be anemia rather than from the Mirena?
The two main things are feeling totally exhausted and an unusual banging head which isn't like the normal headaches I get. I actually went and had an eye test as I was worried it was my eyes but apart from my lazy eye I was told my eyes are "beautifully healthy"  :o certainly nothing that would cause the headaches, she did agree that my eyes looked puffy.
Is it worth having a blood test to check?

If you are bleeding a lot then you could easily be iron deficient - why not take a gentle herbal iron tonic every few days like I do? That ways you don't overdose, it is very gentle on the system but just boosts your levels? Floradix is what I take - and this is because I bleed every two months and also am on a diet almost permanently. I doubt I am deficient though but the little extra won't cause me any harm. Iron tablets are too high a dose and can play havoc with digestion. I also took this (Floradix) when pregnant when blood tests did show anaemia.

Thank you for the replies, I've booked a full blood count via citydoc, was only £55 although I'm now wondering if a FBC would be the right test??  ???  ::)
