Magnesium gives me 'the runs'  ::)

Could you stop the 'extras' and see if that makes any difference?

Hi, Im new on her but i was exactly the same. Symptoms started about 10 years ago (im 49) just with hot flushes. I was on cialopram for depression due to a bad marriage. Once off them the anxiety kicked in. Tried HRT as periods had stopped (at 45)Bad ex[perience with the first one and stopped after a week (cant remeber the names), then tried again a year later on a combined. Started my bleeding again and made me cry alot so came off after 6 months. Everything was fine for 18 months except for hot flushes and then I had a virus. Got over that but the night sweats and anxiety and depression came back. Ive just started the Everol conti patches but felt sick after 48 hrs so have cut down to 1/3 patch to start m,yself slowly. Feel better by the day at the moment and flushes are getting further apart and shorter. I would give it a go!!

I agree.  Some medications can have awful side-effects but everyone reacts differently, what may be impossible to tolerate for one patient might be OK for others.

Re the magnesium some of the cheaper forms are hard on the stomach such as magnesium citrate, I've found chelated magnesium to be the best. There's a spray that you can get to spray onto the skin or you can bathe in Epsom salts twice a week to get your full requirement.

If you are going mad then I am too (and probably a lot of other people on here along with us)  ;)

I too have days where I would love to hide under the duvet and not go to work (in fact I came home within an hour of arriving at work yesterday and called in sick today.) I know I'll be anxious on Monday night / Tuesday morning when I have to go back and yet I love my job and the people I work with. I try to keep telling myself it's 'just' my hormones, not that it makes any difference to how I feel but does help me not think I'm going mad.

I couldn't wait to start HRT in the hope it will make me feel better, but I was scared at the same time. Being 'so young' as my GP put it I was advised it was a necessity anyway (I'm 40 now, looking back I was 37 when symptoms started.)  5 days in I'm having some side effects but hopefully they'll clear soon.

I hope you start to feel better soon xx

I have with the ones I work most closely with and they are very supportive; I couldn't ask for better colleagues / friends than them, although I still feel like they'll get fed up of me and my ups and downs  :-\

They are un-likely to get fed up.  It is in your face but they do get to go home and think about other stuff  ;)
