For those of you who are taking Mitazapine
« on: March 28, 2016, 08:18:29 PM »

I know a few of you are or have been taking this Ad as I am, I'm nearly three weeks in on 15mg.

I just wondered if any of you have had muscle aches as a side effect.
And how long it took you to notice it working for anxiety moods etc,

Anyone taking it long term, with good results, do you struggle to get up in the morning, and what time at night do you take ie just as you get into bed or earlier. Is it still working for you, helping you to sleep months down the line or do you feel its wearing off?

Many thanks

Hello Ann,

I have been on mirtazapine for 5 months at 15mg, I take mine at 830pm and sleep at about 1030pm and get up at 6am, the 1st 4 weeks were harder to get up, after a coffee I was much more awake. I get up fairly easy now.

Its hard to tell if my aches and pains have got worse, because I already had  them, not really thought it was down to the Mirt?

I have improved such a lot taking these tablets, I sleep and eat and my anxiety is much improved, I still have bad moments but nothing like before, I was a retching panic stricken mess that never slept, I used to visit my GP asking for help at least weekly .I have not visited my GP for 3 months now, as my medication is on repeat. It worked almost immediately for sleep which helped my anxiety, more improvement was felt at about 2 weeks in.

I have had good results and don't want to increase dosage as they still work, but would if I felt I needed too.x

Hi Crazydaisy

Thank for your reply. I have to ring my gp later for a repeat prescription as I'm running low I just hope I can get through!

I never used to get anxiety, a bit nervous maybe, I was on Nortriptyline for quite a few years for tension headaches but I didn't realise at the time that they were an Ad I came off them slowly over 6 months but am worried they have now left me with anxiety.
I rang the Menopause Gynie clinic earlier for my appointment my gp refered me as she wasn't really clued up on Hrt . I got stupidly nervous on the phone and when they asked for my tele no my mind went blank so I rattled off a number. When I came off the phone I was shaking I felt so stupid. I had to re call them and explain I thought the number was wrong, she checked it, but it was right after all! I think I'm cracking up! I seem to be worrying about everything !

I'm so glad your tabs are working for you and they carry on doing so
I only wanted more hormones, it's possible the aniexty is down to not having enough.

Are you on Hrt? Or do you have to struggle without?

I've been on Mirtazapine for nearly 2 years.
Started with 15mg which cured my anxiety almost straight away. Had a relapse after a few months went up to 30mg then had to go to 45mg as I got worse with depression too.
At 15mg they are more sedating and I found in the first couple of weeks that they knocked me out and I found it hard to come round in the mornings.
I'm now on 30mg which seems to be the amount I need.
Still have blips but not as bad.

I was totally zonked for first 10 days, although the horrendous anxiety, palps, etc that I had been having mercifully stopped almost immediately thank goodness. After about 2 weeks I could get up normally in mornings ,when working I'm up at 0630. I tke my about 2200 read til I feel sleepy about 45mins usually then sleep fine, something which had alluded me for about 12 months prior. I take 15 mg which as Dyan said is more sedative ,if you increase it you get more of a lift but I found I didn't sleep as well so sometimes I increase it to suit and my gp is happy with this.

Hi smokey

I was put on 45mg of mirt, and I'm afraid it just didn't do anything for me except make me knackered ......I had no probs sleeping before I started taking them, in fact I blame them for making me worse!

But what agrees with some doesn't agree with others

I took Mirtazapine for 6 months.
It helped me sleep really well for maybe 3 months, then it suddenly stopped working and had to take sleeping pills to sleep. The muscle aches were on an off, mostly on my legs, sometimes hips, also had occasional cramps.
It helped a bit with my anxiety, but I had so many side effects and gained so much weight that I decided to quit.
However, it's not the same case with everyone, and it might be a good AD for you.
