Results of scan
« on: March 19, 2016, 02:05:06 PM »

I had my pelvic scan today and everything seems to be fine she said. My endometrium is 11mm which she said is normal? No problems with my ovaries etc.
I'm confused about my bleed which has lasted for the last 3 weeks, I thought maybe my lining would be thick due to the oestrogel and no prog which would explain the long bleed

She gave me loads of photos none of which make any sense to me  ???

I thought 11mm was actually quite thickened???!!! Hopefully someone will be along who understands this. I still think your womb lining is breaking away because it has built up  - this is what my gynae explained happens if you don't use progesterone regularly. When is your Mirena being fitted?  DG x

I think that 11mms is very high ,I thought 5mm was the upper scale  :-\
Ofcourse I could well be wrong but that would explain why you are bleeding so.

Chi chi - It's not that long till your Mirena is fitted, however, if you could do at least 7-8 days of progesterone to help shed the lining properly that might be best.
When The Mirena is fitted, if your lining is quite thickened, then you will probably get quite a bit of bleeding for the first few weeks while the Mirena does it's job. It really isn't good to leave it that long without progesterone. DG x

I know  :-\ I regret leaving it so long and hubby keeps saying "I told you"!  ::)
Could any of this explain me feeling so tired and drained especially yesterday and today, I've also had little bouts of nausea this week too  :-*

5 mm is the upper limit for post-menopausal women who are taking continuous combined HRT as this is supposed to prevent thickening of the lining. There is huge variation in endometrial thickness throughout the normal menstrual cycle and that is within the normal range for the secretory stage (normally the second half of the cycle when progesterone changes the lining). However as you haven't had progesterone and bleeding anyway - it could be due partly to your own progesterone ( if you've ovulated) and also because the lining is a bit too thick because of not taking extra progesterone.

I agree with Dancinggirl - some extra progesterone before you have the Mirena fitted will help reduce its thickness.

Chi chi, are you still producing your own hormones?

I've had scans at different times of the cycle and they have varied from 2mm (the latest one I had just after a period) 5mm mid cycle(ish), peaking at 6.3mm right at the end of the cycle and before the bleed.  There is a huge variation and some women never get a very low reading even when they use the right amount of progesterone.  As always, we are all different.

Someone kindly forwarded this link to me.  She is on the same regime as me, although she takes more Utrogestan that I do, and her readings are always between 6.5 and 7.1.

Top of 2nd paragraph shows the figures for women on HRT and goes up to 10 - 11mm for women on sequential HRT.

Basically, you are below the level at which they would worry there is a problem.

I do agree that it would be worth trying to have a good clear out before you have the coil fitted.  Once you have the Mirena fitted, you will shed automatically if you get a build up.

I think that's quite high but if the 'expert' said it's OK  :-\ however, I wouldn't consider having a Mirena fitted until my womb had shed/cleansed itself.  That's what it is supposed to do, until oestrogen begins to drop off and we move into not knowing where we are  ::) - hopefully you have plenty of thick pads ready ;-).

Do let us know how you get on because every experience is helpful to others on this Journey!

I'm so tempted to just stop the whole lot  :-\ I'm not even sure I actually feel any better than when I started except for my libido which I'm sure has improved due to the testim.
Could I just carry on with the testim do you think? I might start a new post.

Not necessarily ie HRT does not stop everything - depends on the dose. I know that high doses of oestrogen are given to suppress ovulation (this is the basis of Studd's high dose oestrogen regime I gather). If that has happened in your case then that is definitely a high reading for your uterus lining - because when I said it was within the normal range (and as you were told) this would assume the normal thickening and thinning of a menstrual cycle. If you are not taking progesterone and your cycle has been suppressed, then the bleeding is definitely abnormal - oestrogen breakthrough bleeding and I would defo make sure I took some prog before having the Mirena fitted!

I answered your Q about T on your new post.

Well I've been on 4 pumps/3 sachets, I think that's considered a high dose? So presumably I'm not ovulating?
