Is there a licensed Hrt in higher dose than 75mg in patches for peri menopause ?
I have looked at menus and can't see one!
Thanks Ann x

There is one available according to this. Is that what you meant?

Hi Smokey - If you are peri meno, why do you think a higher dose will improve things? I actually found that I got negative side effects if I was on too high an oestrogen dose when I was peri meno - too much oestrogen made me feel jittery and I got headaches. I was eventually put on just one pump of gel per day and that was perfect for some time until I went into post meno. DG x

Hi Trufflecat - thanks for the info it's very handy.
Dancingirl - I presume I'm peri I've been on Everol Patches 50 then 75 in last 6 months I'm getting scary feelings and warmer at night with fan on then goosy again and hot breath thing I used to get before starting Hrt 5 years ago I bit like chewing menthol gum.

Smokey - extra oestrogen isn't always the best way forward. Sometimes it's good to do a reassessment of what exactly you need. Are you being seen by a specialist gynae? It might be worth taking a break from all HRT for at least 4 weeks to see how you feel - then perhaps try Oestrogel and start on just one pump per day for 3-4 weeks to see how you feel, then increase if need be. By taking a break you can then have blood tests done to hopefully see where you are in your meno and move forward in a more positive way. I did this in my peri stage and was put on the lower dose (I had been on quite a high dose which gave me headaches) and felt much more in balance for a few years. DG x

Hi Dancinggirl
I see what your saying but firstly I cannot just stop Hrt you have to be weened of gradually over a six month period. Last I time I just stopped I was ill.
Secondly I have ms and being off Hrt makes my symptoms worse.
Blood test are unreliable as Hrt stays in your system for about 3 months or maybe more, however everyone is different.
Last doc app she said oestrogel is for post meno only ( however she admitted not really being sure) I have new doc app next week as I rang emergency doc to discuss further Hrt and he managed to get me with my original doc who is experienced with Hrt and am to have check up blood pressure done etc to discuss next step forward.
Also I'm having all sorts of symptoms from withdrawal from Nortriptyline Antidepressents and I need to see what is causing what the easiest and quickest option is to increase oestrogen probably by patch to see what gets rid of what as patches work very quickly on me two to three days I think.
I have been given a menopause clinic app too if I don't get any joy from doc app next week. They can perhaps give me better advice. Have to wait 6 weeks though.
To top it all I have gallstones and heartburn too! Digestion could be hormonal too!

Smoky - from what you have described, I don't think the symptoms you are experiencing would be helped by increased oestrogen - I think you are suffering from the side effects of reducing Nortriptyline Antidepressents - this can be nasty.
Oestrogel can certainly be given in peri meno - you just need to use a separate progesterone to protect you womb lining.
I would stick with the HRTs levels you are using for the time being until you have recovered from the ADs withdrawal. DG x
