Adrenaline surges
« on: March 12, 2016, 01:47:03 PM »

Do any of you ladies have any tips for coping with these? At the minute I'm getting these awful rushes of adrenaline whooshing from my stomach up into my arms and legs and sometimes I get the odd skipped beat with them. Often they are followed by a hot flash but not always . My GP was unconcerned and said part and parcel of peri but they are really scary and making me so anxious. Of course worse today as it's my party tonight and I'm catering for 55!!! I'm currently lying on bed feeling dreadful.

Yep my suggestion would be to write down all the things that you need to do. Rope in who ever you can to assist you. Accept that this is a party for you and your friends who love you not the final heat of master chef.

Tell yourself that you are already perfect so the party will naturally be perfect too. P.S it doesn't have to be perfect in order to be the best party ever by the way. lol!

Write down any remaining anxieties, fess up to them with those who can help you to reason them out then draw a line under your planning and do lots of lovely pre party pampering and relaxation stuff plus all the things that tigger said.

Have a wonderful, menopausal Birthday  ;D xx

Thanks ladies. I have Valium so may resort to one in a bit. Bizarrely the hot flushes that have plagued me all day every day these last few weeks have been mostly absent today to be replaced by just the adrenaline surge. I feel so bad as everyone coming to see me and all I want to do is go to a and e and sit and cry in the corner. My mum is with me and she keeps trying to chivvy me along which is worse as I just want to be alone with mr ethyl

Thanks.. Means a lot that others know what it's like. My mum suffered from anxiety so just thinks it's that but this feels hormonal to me as it just swoops in and out. X

Take the Valium !  let it do it's work before the Party begins ….. you'll either be asleep and miss it or be able to go with the flow ;-).

I hate being chivvied  >:(.  It don't help  :bang:.  I'm sure that once you get there and people begin arriving you will be more relaxed, there's always a certain "will people bother turning up" or "what if there isn't enough food" going on with me  ::)

Hello coldethyl.

No real suggestions I'm afraid other than take the medication as it's bound to help. With any luck your hormones will do another gear change later this evening and you'll feel calm and happy!

Many of us know exactly how you are feeling and understand how distressing and frustrating it can be, you are not alone and I hope that offers some comfort.

Best of luck for the party and sending hugs.

K.

Oh Coldethyl, just checked in to see you've had a bad day. Hope you took the Valium and can get through the party ok. I was like this at Christmas...totally relate and hate the way my body reacts to just something that wouldn't phase mist people. It will have been building up all week and resulted in the adrenaline surges. Would have said earlier to have time out somewhere on your own for half an hour and done some deep breathing exercises. I hope to hear tomorrow that you got through it okay and actual,y managed to enjoy it a bit because let's face it, it should be something to enjoy, if it wasn't for these bloomin hormones and anxiety.

Big hugs and a very happy birthday.  :hbday: :bighug: xxxx
