I'm new to all of this and started my HRT treatment last Saturday. I'm 44 and it appears that I've probably been menopausal for a few years (mum and sister were early too). I opted for the gel and progesterone pills. So far, apart from being a bit of a palaver to do, the gel is ok. BUT I did have a query over the 'don't go near your partner for at least an hour after applying' - what about transferring anything to my children. I'm probably over-reacting and will enquire with my GP, but thought I would seek advice here.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not sure to be honest, but if you were to apply at bedtime, I reckon your kids would be OK. I used to apply to upper arms & hubby was fine too.

Transference is unlikely.  I used to apply it to inner thighs after my shower in the morning on really clean dry skin - I'd do my makeup and choose clothes while I let it dry for 10 mins (or sit in bed with a cup of tea) - then get dressed. There is then no chance of transference to hubby or children etc.  It's just about getting into a routine.  The Gel is great as you can adjust the dose but if you find it a real pfaff then change to patches.
I had early meno (from mid 30s) and used the same regime as you for many, many years and found it great - are you doing a sequential regime so get withdrawal bleeds monthly???.  DG x

Hi Becky71

 :welcomemm:

As Dancinggirl says as long as you are careful where you apply it and cover the area up if you apply it in the morning and apply it somewhere you won't rub against your partner if at night! It is important to make sure there is no transference especially to children/pets.
