We're all older than we were yesterday.        ;)

I am 50 and the last year has been filled with aches. Pains & worries. Yes I'm shocked to feel this old. A year ago I felt brilliant and had no concept really of being old

I am older than you and I know I am no longer young but I also think age is a state of mind.  2 years ago I felt a lot older than I do now.  I am struggling with the prospect of my birthday next year when the decade changes but I am coming to terms with it now and am hoping that my 60s will actually be an improvement on my 50s which have not been very nice.

Fifty is young! Mind you my friend of 97 is insisting that my age (62) is young although it doesn't feel like that. He also says that "you don't live long enough to grow old - you only live long enough to grow older"

Abso-bloody-lutely SadLynda, Dulciana, Taz2. Girls - stop thinking about being old FGS!!!!!

I am 62 and will be 63 in a few months time, and health permitting most certainly do not consider myself old!!!! Get out there - make the best of yourself and your life, embrace it all if you can. If there is something in your life that you are not happy with - then try to work out a solution, do things that make you healthy and happy, with friends and family or by yourself.

Babyjane - yes 60's can be fab!!!

The best thing any of you can do to stop feeling old is to lose weight if you are overweight and take more exercise and get out in the fresh air - you will feel heaps better if you are feeling glum/old. Also - it's February - for me the worst month of the year and especially this year as we haven't had a proper winter - no crisp clear sunny bracing freezing cold days with ice frost and snow ( unless you live in Scotland!). You will feel less old as spring and warm sunshine arrives!

If you have menopause symptoms - don't suffer them - take steps to eliminate or reduce them.

Yes we are all ageing - no point in bemoaning your lost youth but above all no need to feel old just because of this. Banish that idea from your head whenever it pops in! My mum is almost 88 and even she does not give in and accept her lot, despite being more tired and having aches and pains!

A month today I will be 62 in body and 21 in mind, only happier and more self accepting than when my body was 21. I'm so fortunate to get here! I've had some close shaves!

My Dad is 90 and he's my model for living.  Not lifestyle - living!

Psychologically I don't feel that old at 50, but my body feels about 90 these days. Tried explaining this to hubby yesterday but he just looked blankly at me. I'm not depressed but part of me just keeps thinking that if this is how it is going to be from now , that I'm not sure I want it anymore. Been reading a Canadian endocrinologist who thinks the menopausal transition is basically like being in drug withdrawal ( from oestrogen) and that is how it feels some days - I know my symptoms got worse after I lost 5st( fatter women get used to higher levels of oestrogen ).  So no 50 isn't old, but it sure as hell can feel like it. I turn 60 this year. I don't feel old, although my body often reminds me.  ;D
