Going to book holiday in next few days. Hubby will only go from our local airport now as its so convenient. I think therefore it's going to be Majorca or Tenerife, both of which we've been to many times but always had good holidays.

We go abroad several times a year but since being post meno I've got really anxious about airports I don't know what it is it's completely irrational so much so that the last half a dozen or so times I've nearly said that I wasn't going but then I look at DH who is so excited (and in need of a holiday) and have to give myself the you can do it talk in my mind together with a lot of deep breathing. I don't relax until I'm sat on the plane.

I can still rember when being at the airport ment the holiday had begun and we would have something to eat and a couple of G&T's. Now I couldn't eat or drink alcohol sometimes I can manage a coffee but more often than not I just stick to water.

I have previously travelled by plane on my own without a second thought but those days appear to be long gone now.Which is a pity as we have a holiday home in Lanzarote which we used a lot prior to my memo journey from hell.

I don't get anxious about airports at all but I worry about being ill during the period leading up to the trip or while away. My particular problem recently is with UTI infections just before I go as they come on so suddenly. Wish I had a solution....

UTIs need investigation if they are a constant.  Keep hydrated.  Empty the bladder when required.  Use HRT every night if necessary to ease symptoms ……. I too worry about being ill B4 going away in case I spoil it for others  :-[

Booked to stay in Holmfirth soon.  Crikey, it was like climbing Everest  ::) - I rang 1 number which went to an answer machine for HQ, so I rang a different number at the Inn we want to stay at - a Very Nice Lad (about 12) couldn't 'log onto the B&B site, don't have the password' - how professional is that! NOT! eventually the Manager of Bookings rang and we managed to get a room on an 'offer'.  PHEW!

Now for the anxiety surges  :-\

Hi CLkD

Is Holmfirth were they filmed parts of Last of the summer wine ? I did visit a few years ago and bought
a lovely table cloth and napkins with a Christmas design which comes out once a year on Cheistmas day.I could however be getting confused with somewhere else memo brain coming into play here I'm afraid.

Anyway hope you enjoy your holiday and the anxiety isn't to bad before you go.

Only eight more sleeps for me hooray.

I have never been keen on leaving the ground - anyone read about those 111 people stranded in cable cars  :o who needed rescuing some being tempted into thin air by Moutain Rescue Teams?

My brother, fiance and I took the cable car up to Heights of Abraham recently and we were talking about there's always the possibility of something mechanical breaking and how horrible it'd feel to be stranded

Got home lunch time today from a 12 night cruise on P and O Ventura. After a few days of dreading going it was a relief to finally set off to Southampton on 28th August. We stay the night before just in case the roads are busy but we had a trouble free drive down. We boarded the ship on the bank holiday Monday and set sail to Lisbon followed by Gibraltar, Valencia, Ibiza, Cartagena and Cadiz. The weather was scorching hot over 30 degrees most days, so we got off the ship early before the temperatures soared and returned early afternoon. It was a lovely holiday I just wish I didn't dread going and could actually look forward to going. Now what I should be dreading is the amount of washing and ironing that awaits  ;D

Sounds lovely.  What do you dread about going?  Just interested because I've never done a cruise but have plenty of friends who have and they love it. I am rather claustrophobic that's what puts me off.

I've recently booked a weeks holiday in Majorca at beginning of October.  I am not scared of flying at all but I am scared of being trapped behind people on the plane so I've been on today and booked seats at front of plane.  No way could I sit in the middle.

Pennyfarthing  my holiday dread is not just this holiday it's any holiday even a weekend away, i don't like anything different at the moment, I like routine. It's not going to stop me having holidays I just need to keep calm and keep busy for the few days before we go.

I can feel claustrophobic in small spaces but I am lucky that we have balcony cabins so fresh air is no problem, the ship is like a floating hotel, plenty of bars, restaurants and swimming pools.

Enjoy Majorca I hope it's cooler than Ibiza was last week, the temperature was approaching 100 degrees even the locals were complaining  :o

:medal: …….. two hoots.  I have always had pre-holiday anxiety, years ago I would pack weeks in advance in case I was overwhelmed in the run-up days.  We were working then so everything got put into piles ……. now I can pack quite quickly but it doesn't help any anxiety  >:(.  I would love to have the holiday go by really fast so that I know whether I'm going to be over-come, then I can enjoy it!  I dread the fear that anxiety will strike if that makes sense ?  :sigh:

Ironically most of the Sat. travel sections included items on "The Best Cable Car Rides" or "Best Views from Cable Cars" etc..  :D
