Hi Ladies

Can anyone tell me the difference with Kliavance 0.5 mgs northisterone - and any combined HRT containing 1mg of Northisterone??

Had a chat with a nurse yesterday who thinks this is a good HRT due to small amount of northisterone I don't do metric lol

Im 57 in 2 weeks and thinking of looking for a combined HRT. Anyone have any experience of Kliavance?

I used Kliovance for six months but had continuous bleeding so went back onto a sequi HRT. Also I was told that at my age then - 56 - I would not be able to continue on a tablet HRT for much longer due to the increasing stroke risk. It is better to try a transdermal (patch or gel) HRT as you get into your later fifties I think.  I got on well with FemSeven Conti which didn't give me any breakthrough bleeding at all although it was tricky getting the patch to stick sometimes. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I'm not sure about the difference in dosage - sorry

Thanks for your advice.

I used Femseven seqi andliked them but had problems with keeping them on. The gel was ok but last year felt after 3 years I had become sesetized, as I lost the full effect. It was the nurse that recommended Kliavance as it has a small amount of northisterone.

I really don't know why your nurse has suggested taking this type of HRT - it is tablet HRT and also contains norethisterone as you said, which can cause side effects. It is quite a low dose of oestrogen ( 1 mg) and much lower than the other preparations you've had. Also as Taz says, at your age you don't want to be going back onto a tablet at all if you want to continue with HRT. Can't you see a doctor who will be more knowledgeable?

I am sure you have tried Utrogestan? If not why not change to a 50 mcg patch ( ie the same dose as Femseven) and take separate progesterone rather than change to a tablet which is going to cause more upset to the system?

Alternatively if you got on well with the Femseven then why not have a Mirena fitted which contains the same progestogen, but less of it gets into the system, and then carry on with a 50 mcg patch?
