Haven't needed to use Canestan for a long time, but does it have Hydrocortisone in it?
If not, I wouldl try some Hydrocortisone cream. I get a rash under my bra band sometimes and use Daktacort ,  it is antibacterial, anti fungal and anti-inflammatory.

Savlon ……….. as deeply inside as possible to keep as much skin as supple as possible.  Every day.  Don't wait until the itchy symptoms start but use an hour before going to bed.  Too much will cause other types of problems  ::)

Also dont wear nylon knickers stick to cotton and let the air get to your itchy area as much as possible, hard I know being your crack.

Hydrocortisone cream +1

My GP suggested 7 days continuous to break the scratch/itch cycle.

It definitely does work but I find keeping the itch at bay difficult.

Also: LIVE yoghurt : eaten by the spoonful.  It will ease any bad bacteria through the system which may help with any irritation lower down.

When the product i.e. Savlon is applied, lay down on a warm blanket naked and read ……. so that there is opportunity for gentle soaking in ;-)

You could try washing with Dermol - it is a skin wash/moisturiser used for things like dermatitis and eczema.  It is mildly antiseptic.  Then let it dry whilst reading a book, like CLKD suggests  ;D

Ouch...

How's your digestion? May seem a daft question but itchiness in that area can be caused by a poor digestive system and/or gallstones....which I've come across in my gallbladder research.

I had this once with lots of splits in the skin and it was agony >:( The Dr gave me some cream that is combination of hydrocortisone and anti fungal ( daktacort) and it worked a dream and healed up in days.  I had to use it twice a day for two weeks.

One word on E45 cream- it contains large amounts of lanolin and if someone like me with severe skin allergy to wool uses it the reaction is extreme!  I now read the ingredients on all creams ::)
