bleeding on Premique 0.625mg/5mg
« on: November 15, 2015, 07:26:12 PM »

Hi everyone,  I put this on personal experience but then realised put on wrong discussion matter. I have been on Premique normal dose ( as my doc called it) for three weeks now came off premique low dose because it was not really helping my vaginal atrophy and bladder spasms. Also got estriol cream. For three weeks I have been great on this premique higher dose had no twinges below or bladder spasms thought great. Then this morning started bleeding very slightly a pinkish colour, I now have light bleeding. Had sex two days ago always use lubrication ( yes). Started twinging a bit yesterday evening used a liittle estriol cream on the outside last night. I'm wondering if that could have caused this bleed together with the Premique. I'm at a loss with this. I really thought this suited me and I was feeling tons better. It's so depressing. Has anyone else had similar problem with this dose premique. I have had sex before and never had any bleeding.

Hi dap5645

I'm sorry I can't comment on the type of HRT - but it could be that the increased dose has led to a bit of breakthrough bleeding. Did you get this when you started the Premique low dose?

The other thing is that if you think it was to do with sex then this should alwyas be looked into - although not sure if two days counts as bleeding after sex - or whether this is only attributed to sex if it's the day after? It might just be coincidence.

Either way I would ring the doc just to ask and make sure.

Thanks Hurdity for your post. No I never had breakthrough bleeding on Premique low dose. just entered my head about the sex, don't ask me why haha!! To be honest I'm so depressed at the moment. Everytime I feel like I could be getting right I have another set back. I have been on this higher dose just over three weeks and have felt great. Now I have stomach cramps and feel just shocking. I try to talk to my husband but I feel he just thinks I'm a pain. I feel like I have always something wrong with me at the moment, Take care xx

Sorry to hear you are feeling depressed about this. Go and see your doc about the bleeding and mention the sex, and perhaps think about trying a different HRT type. HRT should not make you feel depressed so perhpas you still haven't found the right dose/type yet? Have you shown your husband the "Advice for husbands" section yet?. Mind you having said that mine would not even look at it, I know that!!! Keep us updated.  :)

Hi Hurdity

When I got up today I was bleeding a lot more. I have phoned the docs up can't get in with mine until 10th Dec and other doc in two weeks. Phoning back at 1 for any cancellations. No I don't think my husband would read it either. I don't even tell him I'm on here for the fact I really don't think he's that interested. Hey thanks for posting again. It's really getting me down xx

Sounds like a proper bleed and most likely due to the higher dose. Even though it is probably due to this (continuous combined HRT can cause unpredictable bleeding at first and you are now on a higher dose). I would ask to speak to the doctor and if necessary ask for an emergency appointment just to check what you should do. You should not have to wait until Dec 10th nor wait for a cancellation. It may also be that you have fibroids or a polyp which is another explanation for bleeding on a higher dose.

It may be that you would be better off on a cyclical HRT which gives a predictable bleed.

Have you been told to use the estriol cream nightly for 2 weeks and then twice a week thereafter? That is the standard regime when you start the cream.

My husband pokes his head round the door where I am sitting at my computer and looks at the screen and says - Menopause Forum again is it? I tell him I've only just logged on which is usually true - he just happens to walk in then  ;D .  Not that it's anything to do with him what sites I visit!!! I would love the web designer to change the colours from green and yellow to something less obvious so it looks like any other website/forum!!!

Hi Hurdity,

I havn't been using the cream for three weeks because since I've been on this higher dose premique I've been great down below which I havn't been for three years. The bleeding doesn't seem as bad as earlier. I have got in the docs tomorrow afternoon. I keep thinking I should persevere with this HRT. It says on leaflet that within first few months you could have breakthrough or spotting. Mine is not like a full blown period but would say more than breakthrough. Oh I know what you mean with husbands. Today he asked if I was okay what a surprise haha. Thanks once again for your help and support xx
