Tired all the time
« on: November 10, 2015, 07:56:30 AM »

Hi everyone

this is my first time of posting, but I have been reading various posts and have to say its soooo good hearing how others are coping with all this crap.

At the moment I am just feeling tired constantly, am not sleeping too badly (I think!) I used to wake with night sweats a couple of times but this seems to have gone to just waking once - could be to do with taking starflower (as suggested on here) for which I am grateful, but I am just sooo tired and cant seem to shake it.  I am over emotional most of the time, cant stand my new job which I'm sure is made worse because of how I feel.

I would love to know how others cope/deal with this, please, what works or at least helps.  Its just all bringing me down

thank you  :-\

Hello Alififi and welcome to the forum.

Earlier on in my menopause journey I went through a phase of feeling tired all the time. Fortunately I didn't work so I was able to nap during the day.
There are many knowledgeable ladies on this site and I'm sure they'll be along to share their experiences and advise you. In the meantime I wish you well and hope this phase passes for you as it did for me.

Take care.

Hated that feeling. Still get from time to time. I don't work so can give in to it during the day, but try not to. I can go for nights of tossing & turning, getting maybe 3 hours or so of sleep. Then eventually my body gives in & lets  me sleep. Bliss for a few weeks.

GP gave me tablets to break the habit, but once they were finished it was back to same problem.

Hi AliF'

Yes it is a mare being knackered all the time. I have been there- I looked like a zombie for months , black circles round my eyes, pale skin, slurring of words, forgetfulness, teary, confused, walking into doors, no space awareness, too tired to do anything except sleep after work, throwing up in the mornings before work due to anxiety and lack of sleep.

How did I cope?

Slowing down and removing all the stress that I could from my life. Also how to help you sleep CD's. The occasional 2mg diazepam. Valerian from the health food store and believe it or not a potatoe based snack before bed can help you sleep.

HRt can also improve things once you get the right dose.

Also talking to family and friends getting lots of support is essential.

Good luck,

Crashing fatigue during my teens stopped me in my tracks, nowt I could do about it.  See what you can chuck out of your life to give you space!

Hi!
I used to be like that too - even thinking about putting a wash on was too much to cope with, let alone doing it.

I found that taking a Moringa supplement really helped - I haven't felt that awful tiredness for about 2 years now. It was a miracle for me and I wouldn't be without it!
It took 6 weeks to kick in and I take 4 capsules a day and the joy of not having that exhaustion is brilliant.

I don't think I'm allowed to mention where I get it from here (am I?) but look for organic Moringa capsules.
You can get it as a tea and as powder but I find the capsules the best. It really is so good for you and provides all sorts of vitamins, minerals, enzymes etc that help support our bodies.

PM me if you want to know my source - which is a great little firm who just believe in the best health for everyone!

Hi Alififi

 :welcomemm: from me too.

When I hear those words "everything was normal" it makes me want to go and ask for the actual readings. First of all how old are you and what have your periods been doing? Also specifically what were your thyroid (TSH) readings? The doctors range for normal doesn't necessaarily mean that you won't feel symptoms with a lower TSH reading. Do ask the receptionist for a print-out.

Low oestrogen, testosterone and an underactive thyroid ( even if not at the treatable level) can all cause tiredness, along with all sorts of mineral and vitamin deficiencies - although I presume these were tested? How is your diet  and exercise? At this stage in life it is important to correct anything that might not be doing you any favours - so eat a diet with lots of fresh fruit and veegetables, nuts pulses, calcium rich foods , low fat - and few processed foods, little or no refined sugar, less alcohol etc, maintain healthy BMI - lose weight if necessary. Also increase the amount of exercise you take so that you are physically tired. Paradoxically this can reduce tiredness. Apologies if you know all of this and doing it already :)
http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/diet.php

As Stellajane says if you don't like your job then the stress can cause tiredness so you need to build in things you like to do or to look forward to that can help you relax.

Depending where you are in menopause, how old you are and what your periods are doing a low dose HRT might just give you the lift you need provided you choose the right product - but I would make sure the lifestyle measures and diet were also in place (if not already!) :)

Also in terms of sleep - do you think you are getting enough? Do you have a good sleep routine?

Hope these suggestions help in some way :)

Hi Hurdity
You seem very well informed. Are you a medical professional?
