16 year old stabbing
« on: October 28, 2015, 05:16:37 PM »

So sad, 16 year old boy stabbed at school up in my neck if the woods. He has since died. The school is in a very affluent area, houses are large & expensive. Very posh! Not something one would expect in that particular area. His poor parents, friends etc.  :'(

Reminds me of the school my kids went too.....and it sends shudders up my spine.

What on earth.....guess it's been a poo personal thing as only one boy has been attacked.

So very very sad

That must take hours CLKD!! Do they frisk them? Some secondary schools have over 1000 pupils!

Yep.  The children are frisked; for knives, drugs, ciggies, mobile phones …….. this has been happening for 8 years and children are finally getting the message that there are Rules and the Police will continue to be at the gate.  It isn't a small School either.

It is a very nice school.  My nephew went there.

The school my children went to had drug problems before they went, but is also very nice.  It had 1600 pupils last time I looked.  :o

I would have hated that for my children every day. How awful to be searched every day.

We moved so that our children could go to a good school but unfortunately not everyone can do that.

There is too much administration for teaching staff these days, so less time to spend with the children  :-\

It would seem that bullying is at the back of this incident  :'( ………

This is really interesting CLKD. It's not something that has been allowed here in our county. Can you tell us a little more about it? It seems to be setting a precedent. For the police to frisk possibly 500 pupils each day would mean they have to be in school earlier or it would impact on teaching times so I'm wondering how they persuaded parents to co-operate? Also it's taking the police away from their other duties. Do the school have any say in it do you know?

Yep.  The School asked the Police to be present.  I think that the potential trouble makers have been whittled out now and the Police presence makes any think twice ………. parents have been involved of course.  It certainly doesn't take the Police away from 'duties' as such, it is one more issue to deal with each morning and evening …… they are present at the Gate to dis-courage any bullying ……..

Ah being present at the gate is different to searching every pupil each morning for knives, drugs, cigarettes and mobile phones!

I havne't been clear again - initially every pupil was frisked (about 8 years ago) the Police went into Schools in the area and talked and talked and …….. consequences were discussed with pupils.  When I drive by the School in the mornings Police are present …….. it's a drip feed of consistency and any trouble makers are kept a close eye on.  Some of course will be in the Police Record system anyway …….. when I was in School (400 all told) the Head knew every child and every childs' history as he was teaching 2/3 generation.  So he knew how to advise the Staff about which children to watch. Living in the village made a difference too, in that he watched kids out of School time too ……. and then we were representing the School even out of Term time so would be called into the Office if he thought it necessary.
