Hi maggiesinc - as dazned says - the oestrogen in most types of HRT (except for the ones beginning with PRE ) is bio-identical but most of the progestogens are synthetic except for Utrogestan which is micronised progesterone. There isn't a bio-identical combi patch or pill so you have to take the oestrogen and progesterone separately which is what I and many others do.
If you are talking about "bio-identical hormone replacement therapy" - this is an American import which fortunately is not very widesperad in this country because we have the NHS. BHRT is privately prescribed, unregulated and very expensive, and not to be recommended. I can give you lots of links if you need convincing! Don't be taken in by the hype especially from US trying to sell products to you, or private specialists in this country who may try to do the same ( sell their services and then the products)!
Where are you in menopause and how old etc? If you need any more help or information please do ask and we can try to advise!

A great deal of us ladies are on bio identical hrt as in the gels, patches etc with utrogestan as the progesterone side. If you are meaning the compounded creams etc that I think are quite popular in the states, I was advised against them by my Dr as he said that they were not strong enough, but I really do not know much about them, the gel and utro work very well.
