Hi Anjia

Do you mean you've only had a week of the increased dose ie the last two patches were 50 mcg? This may well be too soon to show a difference. Also what was the dose of tablets you were on and sorry I can't remember how old you are and whether you kept your ovaries?

Give it another 3 weeks or so and if no improvement I would ask to increase to 75 mcg. Pity there isn't a 62.5 - after all there is a 37.5 in Estradot anyway!

Too soon to tell Anjia. HRT needs time to build up in your system. It would be great if helped quickly, but sadly that is rarely the case. I understand your need for a decent night's sleep, the night sweats can be awful. As Hurdity says give it a few more weeks.

Was in similar situation a few years ago when I had my op, I kept my ovaries but suspect they failed pretty rapidly , I was on pills, then asked for patches , tried the 50 and then moved to 75 3 weeks later - the difference was noticeable within 2 days, still got some flushes but manageable , then moved to 100 and felt that was too much , cut down the 100 myself so will have around 80 ish and that seems to have all bar an occasional one. Suspect your 50 is not enough.

Thanks I am still waking with night sweats so I will ask my gp when I finish this pack if I can go on the 70 patch. I was hoping the 50 would work as I dident really want to go for a higher patch  a bit afraid it will be to much, I am 54 now is it right that as you get older you should reduce your hrt .

Perhaps a gel would work better for you as you can tweak the amount that you use to find just the right amount.

I do agree that the older you get the amount you should use is the minimum for symptom control.

ideally I am sure we shouldnt take it at all but if it helps then you need to take the amount that stops most of the symptoms.  If you dont sleep you will damage your health , I have been on HRT for 8 years now and so far so good.  ::) I do wonder what would have happened if Id not ben able to take it, presumably ended up on low dose ADs .
