you can do a quick calculation of 'youGov'.  It's not precise but it gives you an idea.

they are sending me details of my NI contributions in the post.  I requested them on the phone.

They reckon that only 1 in 3 will get the full £155ish rate and there's all sorts of confusion around that too.

I've apparently got forty one qualifying years. I really should investigate all of this further but keep putting it off. I know that I can get the state pension when I'm sixty five and three months old. Three years to go then!

I met up with the girl who used to live next door when we were kids. She is exactly 6 months older than me. She gets her pension this coming July along with her free bus pass and £200 winter fuel allowance and any other perks going.

The 6 month difference in our ages is costing me a lot! I won't be able to get my pension until July 2018 and will miss out on over £12,000.

I miscalculated there!!  It's actually £16,587.60 plus the bus pass I will be losing compared to my 6 month older friend.  :'( :'(

OMG It's worse than I thought.

Yes I'm still working. I think you still get a bus pass at 60 in Wales even though you don't qualify for state pension at that age!

Lucky you.  I have to wait until 66 to get mine.  By that time they probably will have done away with them completely. >:(

Sorry.  I thought you meant you are in Wales, and can get your bus pass.

Anyway, we are wishing our lives away wanting to be old enough to get one. ;D

No I'm not in Wales but my best friend is  :)

I have to wait to 65 and 3 months by which time I'm not even sure our local community will have the luxury of a bus service!

I've asked for a few state pension forecasts in the past few years but only recently seen a line on the reverse page saying because I was contracted out of SERPS for some years with my small private pension,   I will get less than  stated on the front page.  I do recall being advised to contract out,  then in,  then out again and I just did as advised,  not really understanding it if I'm honest.

So their records state I was contracted out for 18 years and so that must be deducted from my total number of qualifying years.  But as I understand it,  and I must admit to not understanding much about pensions,  I won't  be losing out as extra money was paid into my pension fund by the government because I was contracted out.  Is this correct  :-\

Reading through that,  I don't think I have a hope of knowing how much I will actually receive,  or whether it is correct😔

On the gov site you can ask for them to let you know how many years NI you have Ariadne and how much pension you will get.  I've done this recently and am awaiting reply.  :)

I've done it several times over the past few years PF,  It did say how many qualifying years I had,  and how much my pension was expected to be.  But recently,  on the reverse,  it said I would get less than that because I had been contracted out at some stage.  So  I still don't  know for sure what I will get.
