Things in tins
« on: September 04, 2015, 12:39:37 PM »

Recently had discussion online with daughter's partner's mum about things we used to consume years ago which came in tins & wondered how many ladies remember these.

Corned beef - still in tins & I still buy it.
Bacon Grill - mum used to serve with fried eggs & fried day old pancakes.
A&B Roll - don't remember liking it much.
Cremola Foam - lemon. Thought it was such a treat.  ::)

Carnation Milk
Fray Bentos steak pies
Condensed Milk.

Didn't like any of them but the very worse was tinned Haggis  :o

A&B roll was spicy ham & beef. Probably didn't like as it was spicy.

Ooh I'm remembering another one, tinned cream! Oh how I hated that stuff. My MIL thought she was giving us a treat. Jelly, tinned fruit & huge dollop of tinned cream. I suffered in silence!

Please tell me you didn't consume dog food CLKD.  ;D

You used to get a whole chicken in a tin! Beat that!

Bramble
ps. Still get Creamola foam in tins - I love it! Pure unadulterated sugar!

Whole chicken in a tin, never heard of that one.

I won't be rushing to buy Cremola Foam bramble. Just looked it up. Says it was popular in Scotland! Why?  ::)

Camping foods come in packets or tins, one pulls a widget, boils water in and hey presto, 8 mins. later a meal for 1

Don't think I'd make a good camper!   ;D

Condensed milk, yummy. I used to love when my mum made toffee & I could scrape the tin!  :)

I remember that ham. Came in a strange shaped tin. Can't remember the name of it,  though think it may have been Old Oak Ham. Mum always had as a standby.
