I have been suffering with heartburn recently and wondered if it could be linked to hormone levels. Has anyone else noticed a pattern to theirs?

I think it is more to do with getting older I'm afraid. I have simply had to modify my diet to avoid the need to take PPIs. DG x

We have several threads about heartburn and acid reflux - if you do a search you'll find them. It's been background for me this week
and worse if I take meds then try to sleep, laying down triggers it!

Is it normal to get a lot of saliva with heartburn?

Yep. Paritcularly when laying down. Sometimes I need to sleep upright as the reflux is awful.

Does yours last for a couple of days? I ate something yesterday that repeated on me and since then I have been having heartburn. It does seem better than yesterday, was very bad last night. It's horrible isn't it.

For me if I don't take Rennies immediately, the reflux continues. I find if I try to lay down it continues and will leech into the following day. It depends on what I eat too ……. it can be background or full on.
I can eat something and 5/6 days later can 'taste' it in the gullet.

Thanks for the reassurance, I was worrying that I had an ulcer.

I believe that an ulcer feels 'specific', i.e. it is painful behind the gut area?
